I hear what you're saying. You may have been driving for a while. I can understand your hometime wants. If you're home everyday that's great. But I'm out to make the most i can. I live in the truck for now and if it breaks I'm screwed. Nj to Texas linehaul $2050. No fuel surcharge with the mega carrier. Texas to seatlle Washington $4200 deadhead back to Houston again no fuel surcharge. I appreciate your feedback I just don't want to end up in a similar situation.

Some terminals/companies have customers where loading and unloading is more common. If you're pulling random loads, roughly a third of the time you may be involved. It's usually two hours. You usually get paid demurage too.

Running like that, you might gross $180k. I know a guy who rarely goes home and grossed almost $300k.

Stay out of the SE though. I feel the need to say that because every time someone complains to me about not making money at QC, they're inevitably from TN, GA, LA etc.

Texas to Seattle should be around 8.5k, 65% of that you would get. Plus 20% line haul fuel surcharge. Partial dead head back.

When I pulled dry van and got paid detention, it usually had a 5 hour maximum per day, and sometimes had to fight to get it. In running tanker, demurrage went until I was done and able to leave the plant, and everywhere I went expected to have to pay so there was little trouble getting paid.

I have been at a plant for 12.5 hours and I'm not under the rack yet. 48 a hour after 2 hours.
