There are too many variables to answer that question. Even
if your talking about a bobtailing truck. The company that
I worked at the longest changed their trucks over the years.
As they went to all computer controlled trucks the horsepower
went up for pulling but they would go 0-60 slower with your
foot on the floor for fuel conservation. So say if I were useing
an old loaner and my friend was in his new company truck and
we were running together pulling the same weight I would leave
him at a stop light but he would pass me on a hill. Same basic
cummins engine but different horspower and fuel managment.
If your an O/O I guess you can have them set up to go really
fast 0-60 if its your truck. But if your putting another driver
in it all you care about is saveing fuel. I never timed myself
going 0-60 but I hope this helps you to be more specific in
    your question.

    Thanks Truck Vet.

I didn't know there were many variation in speed control methods.
I am interested in the general 0-60 times.
For example, would 30 seconds be a good estimate.
Doesn't have to be exact, just a number that is
    reasonable.

    Thanks

In the interests of scientific research, I'll stop in the slow lane of the highway tomorrow afternoon and time it out LOL. I don't have long enough between lights on the city streets to measure it up that fast LOL.

depends on load weight......they are not fast in the get up and go stance.

Thanks everyone so far for your input.
The load will be about 8500lbs. With a possible
    additional drag of 1000lbs.
Similar to a truck driving at a 6 degrees angle.

I forgot to add. I'm looking for any automatic transmission truck,
either a Semi, a dump truck or a parcel van that can get up to 0-60 mph carrying the load and drag in a reasonable time/ distance. Within a mile.
Do you think a F450 dump truck can get up to speed?

I was behind a UPS single axle tractor (no load) and he was able to get up to 50 mph in about 15 seconds.

    Thanks
    DK

What is the point to being the speed demon off the line??? That is totally irrevelant to trucking. We aren't talking about Nascar here.
