So I have a 26' straight truck that hardly gets used so I have been putting the word out that I would like to find it a lil work. I don't need to make a fortune with it, I just don't want to get rid of it and would like to justify keeping it around. So I talked to a bunch of people in plant City FL and let them know I have a truck figuring maybe one of the six million produce or berry places might need a load moved here or there. Got a call from a guy who seemed very nice and was offering way to much money to haul for his start up in and around the state. I figured it was a scam but it wasn't lol. Dude kept saying it would be hauling light loads of plants so I figured flowers or berries or something but every time I would ask he would change the subject. I finally got it out of him, this was my great chance to get in on the ground level of the blossoming medical marijuana and hemp business....no thanks! Just wanted to let everyone know that this is starting in Florida and to be careful, I have heard some horror stories about guys getting jammed up in this mess.

You may be able to get on with the state hauling all the crazies down there to the ocean and dump them in. :biggrin_2559:

It was a food service truck in it's previous life so I have that nice slippery ramp built in to slide them all down to feed the Gators.

Yeah, there's a grow house in town...no way in hell I'd work there no matter how hard-up I was for a job. Sure...the state has "legalized" it, but the feds haven't. All it would take is for a policy change to happen and the feds would be raiding that place and everyone working there would be brought up on federal drug charges. Screw that. If I'm going to get locked up, it isn't going to be for something stupid like working a dead-end job.

...and if you're transporting it, now you've got to not only watch that you aren't arrested for trafficking, but also have to watch over your shoulder for those who would hijack your load for their own profitable redistribution. And don't even THINK about arming yourself "just in case" that happens...then you'd be facing gun charges as well. A local sheriff around here found that out the hard way...selling drugs out of his cruiser, and was charged with firearm violations because he had his department-issued weapon on him.

Yeah...people were buying drugs from a uniformed cop in a marked cruiser.

Once it’s federally legal the rates are going to drop so much it won’t be even worth it.

But hey you never know, with the average truckers moral conviction preventing him from ever discussing cannabis rates might actually be high. No pun intended.

Then again if rates are high most truckers “would over look” their moral conviction.

I'd jump on the hemp business.
If the truth were known, plenty of owner-operators are making a fortune hauling "agricultural products" and as soon as the truck and home is paid for; they'll quit.
With that little box truck it's easy to avoid scales.

That's a good way to look at it. I'm just a scaredy cat with it.
