Well I finally landed a LTL gig and I must say I love it. I applied to every LTL company and got turned by every one because I didn’t have any LTL experience. I was about to give up on LTL but AAA Cooper called gave me an interview and I landed the job. I’ve been with this company for 4 months now and I love it here.
I’m a linehaul driver and I’m running teams here. Until I can build some seniority to hold down a decent lane team is where I’m going to make some good money. I could stay and work the dock and pray I get a run but sometimes I don’t get a run and just work the dock and I don’t want to be an over paid dock worker. I’m a driver and I want to drive. I run Monday-Friday and we run close to 6,000 miles a week. I get to the house at least twice a week for a couple of hours which is fine with me.
I make $1,900 - $2,100 a week gross but after taxes, benefits and 401k that comes out to about $1,500 - $1,700 take home. I couldn’t be more happier. This company gave me a chance and I’m not looking anywhere else or going anywhere and I will retire with this company. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Just wanted to speak about this company a little bit. I know we might not be a big time LTL player in the game such as Fedex Freight and UPS freight and ODFL but it’s in the top mid- size LTL carrier companies to work for. Hope everyone has a blessed day and safe travels.

They took over the transportation side of a local manufacturer a few years ago. I haven't talked to one of their drivers lately.
Glad things are working out for you!Matt1924, Kstrong86 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -

does AAA Cooper still make you work the dock before you go out or come back??
they used to before they sent the driver out on his run maybe times have changed I know they're not in Union so it's hard to tellMatt1924, Kstrong86 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Yea they work the dock before they head out. Just depends on the run. I’ve seen some drivers work the dock before they go out, hook, go to destination, work the dock there and come back and work the dock too. That’s for the small runs though. Majority of the time it’s working the dock go out and then come back. Yea we are not Union. Yea I know there are some aspects of it where some wish it was union but overall I’m happyTrucker Kev Paid Tourist Thanks this.

Nope but isn’t that pretty much standard at all LTL companies. Well I know at YRC they don’t and I believe UPS doesn’t either.Trucker Kev Paid Tourist Thanks this.

Does AAA require you to be clean shaven? Not sure if region makes a difference, but I’ve got an interview in the morning. Thanks in advance!
