in addition to the lousy nav on the Qualcomm, I also run a Garmin 785 and Google in sat view. i primarily follow the Garmin except will switch to Jill when near the shipper, and often the Google Maps comes in handy for extra traffic info, checking out exits, and of course for details at the customer locations.Jamark Thanks this.

Yeah I bough me a Garmin delz785 also and I love it I use google earth but not as a god didn’t know you could do that
-
not Google Earth but Google Maps. I have a backup phone mounted permanently and put my destination in Google Maps, put it in drive mode, and toggle on sat view and speed limit. It frequently helps, often on short notice. For instance, today I was getting on the Maine turnpike and something had gone wrong with the toll booths and they actually closed the southbound entrance to the pike, I think it was exit 45. as you know, Jill is useless at redirectly and I didn't have time to figure it out with the Garmin....I was lucky to learn of the problem in the nick of time on the CB in order to make the ramp onto some other local road. Google helped me figure out how to get down to exit 42 really quickly without getting stuck somewhere. now that I have this trio figured out, I won't operate without it

See that’s sweet! I have another phone that I was going to use as a dash. But I have my go pro set up behind my seat. And don’t want to spend 30 on a phone mount in a truck stop.

Do u know if u download the Garmin smart link and connect ur phone to it it will tell you when there are construction closed roads and heavy traffic
-
It is supposed to,h but triedI that...I use the optional Garmin power cord that has a traffic data receiver in it. That sometimes gives some traffic info but rarely and usually too old.
In my experience, nothing beats Google for traffic info...they've got millions of phones they suck up rate of travel info from, in addition to the public info. Of course we can't blindly follow any alternative routes they suggest, because they don't offer truck routing. -
Sure does take a lot of gadgets to drive a truck these days. I am glad my truck is old and doesn't know what all this stuff is. lol
stylez80Nine Thanks this. -
Sure do, it doesn't require any gadget to do that either. lol
Folks were buying gps's before I left the lower 48, I just never seen the need for one, and never drove a truck that had a qualcom in it. Some of the companies put them in up here, but they were, and maybe still are problematic, as satellite service is spotty.
