I am looking for any info or feedback on 4 or 5 car trailers. right now have a 'Big Tex' wedge, but can't get the variety of freight on it that we haul.
With the new trucks getting bigger can barely get 2 trucks and a small car on this one.
Any suggestions what trailers are better 'buys'? Looking for something beefy enough to take the truck business and roads we are on
Pulling with a 5500 Dodge dually flat deck.

I heard good things about Suncountry trailers. They have a few 4 car haulers to choose from. They where out of my budget and too heavy for my 3500 dually. SunCountry Trailers - 4 Car Hauler Standard and Custom Trailers

I personally just bought myself a Texas Pride 4 car trailer a couple weeks ago, a little lighter than the sun country trailers and upgraded with 9k axles, winch and heavy mesh floor for $21k, trailer scaled at a bit over 10k empty with a rating of 27k lbs. I'm just starting out but it looks like a sturdy build. My only complaint was the paint job. Anything that was on a hinge was glued to the trailer by the paint. Had to touch up every piece that I unstuck. I will keep a bottle of rustolium paint with me just incase. I plan on writing up a review in a couple of months of how it is holding up.

In regards to IFTA. I just filed for my first time. The reason people are scared of it is because if you dont understand it, its a pain the first time. Especially if you use the paper form. Once you get it, then its 10 minutes. You also have to log where you bought your fuel and how many gallons purchased in that state, which is a pain to get used to.

    24kHotshot Thanks this.

There is some benefits and drawbacks to staying under the IRP/IFTA threshold. On the positive side the record keeping is more simple and you wont get penalized for buying fuel in cheap fuel tax states and running miles in expensive ones. If you have a large auxiliary tank and can play that game and save some money. On the downside you have to stop and buy the permits in all the permit states if you don't have IRP, and of course being stuck at 26k will limit your hauling opportunities.

Your right about the cheap fuel expensive state. On my old truck with 100 gallon transfer tank. I would fuel in Oregon no puc and be able to do about 1000 miles in ca which would be enough to get back to Oregon to fuel again. As far as permits, Idaho port of entry told me I’m free flowing with no irp needed as long as I’m not over 26k. One time I got held up at the weight station in Oregon for not having a trip permit and not apportioned plates, but had commercial plates. Dot officer tried calling Idaho weight station after I told him I was informed by Idaho I don’t need apportioned plates. Idaho didn’t answer and he let me go no citation. Officer also wasn’t happy that I didn’t have a CDL but my gcwr was 24500 rolled thru the scale at 25900 had a TA scale ticket that I gave him.

Registered for 34000, and i believe we were carrying 27k but I’m not 100% of our actual weight.. He weighed us with portable scales but didnt tell our driver what we weighed and left it blank on the ticket. Truck and trailer weighs 17k and we were carrying a 2014 qx70 and a 2010 f150 supercrew xl 145’’. My estimates have us at 27k.

Ok, yeah when I rolled thru the scale I had a TA scale ticket I paid for. As soon as he tried saying something I just handed him my scale ticket from TA. That was the end of that, he did make a comment about how I was right up at the limit lol
