Take the money! Money is the only form of communcation corporations understand in cases like this. Taking what you wrote as gospel, and based on the levelheadedness of your narrative I believe you speak the truth, you are due.
It is OK to have an opinion but not always OK to express it. It makes no difference whether you are in an office, on the oil field, or in a truck, an individuals behavior in the work place should be professional.

Everyone has been subjected to racism. The very term "Native American" points to racism. Come from Russia to the US, you are not called Russian American. Come from China, you are not called Chinese American. But there are Spanish Americans, Afro Americans, and Native Americans. Its racism, pure and simple. So what? Be racist. If I invite you over to my house, youre a friend. If you consider yourself a Native American while youre over my house, then you are my racist friend. LOL
When the time comes to where your being Native American would prevent you from sharing a meal at my house then you are no longer my friend and are just a racist. So be it. I dont have black friends, white friends, native friends. I have friends and girlfriends. My friends can come over to the house and drink my beer. My girlfriends call me daddy. -
I had already stated in a previous post that this was not about money. And someone calling every black person they saw a N word and me describing someone by saying "He was some fat guy in his 40's" is very different. You know what? Maybe it isn't. I'm not fat and never have been fat so I don't know what it feels like. Maybe you don't know what it feels like to be subjected not to only racism but to hear this guy crazily making physical threats to anyone that was not white.
Having an opinion is something I'm fine with. Telling me I should have hit that car because it was full of black people is taking it a little bit too far than just having an opinion. Freedom of speech? I believe in it but it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that even today you don't say certain things in public. If all of what this guy was saying was just fine and dandy then we should all ignore how much money companies put into making their employees realize that "discrimination" is wrong and something that should not take place at work. Yea. Lets ignore that as grown adults and lets tell our kids to ignore that same notion at school as well. Lets tell them that at school they can say whatever they want. Lets see how long it'll take until you get a call from the principal. Use your brain every once in a while, people.
And as for me just wanting money out of this; No. I don't know if someone you have realized this but these days the only way to hurt a big corporation is where it really matters--Their money. And, really, when you have as much money as some of these companies, I'm sure throwing a couple hundred thousand or even a few million to a few people here and there to shut them up won't hurt a bit. Actually, most intelligent businesses if ran properly have accounts just for this.
They can't have certain things being said about their company so most of the time they like to settle out of court and have all the details hush hush so their shareholders won't become scared of the company falling to the pits if this leaks to the media.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by saying the word "fat".sarookie Thanks this. -
So you feel that a couple hundred thousand dollars will make up for the racial injustice and emotional distress you suffered. It is about the money. Its your chance to get back at the Man!
"Lets make our money the American way! Sue someone!"
You sir, are in for a rude awakening.Last edited by a moderator: May 27, 2009

You do realize that Heartland Express does not train, never has trained, and doesn't intend to ever train. We don't even run a refresher program right now.
So either the poster is talking about another Heartland Express company or he's spinning a wild story.
And I am qualified to speak on the issue as I work for Heartland Express and I've been here long enough to know Wise One when he was a driver. I'm not here to debate or argue the merits of Heartland Express or any company for that matter. But I did feel it necessary to set the record straight.
Carry on.Gitty Thanks this. -
Yep, there was no training at Heartland.
And I wonder who Jon is, what department and terminal does he work out of??? They say top pay is 70k
. If I had a tape like this i would have at least got 10 years of pay, to wait out what was put on my DAC report.

its funny that u had a trainer, we at heartland dont have trainers,,period,u r required to have at least two years of CURRENT experiance, i have driven here for a few years now and as a matter of fact i came back to this company after trying flatbed for a while, great company to work for, just dont exspect to run more than 1800 miles a week with any consistentcy, again,,no trainers here, if u have been out of the trking buizz for 90 days, u can go out with a refresher driver who will evaluate u, but not train u, as far as racism, who knows, but i can tell u this, as a biracial (black/white) have never had any problems like u described, also this company is roughly 60% wht
20% blk,,10% other...,so u can can the lies here and now,,,,, g buddy -
What is the other 10% lol.
I like Heartland so far. But this thread is wrong. I do not know if the person that started it was confused, thinking it was another company or what. I have just ignored the thread figuring it will fade away eventually.
I have had one week under 2000 miles. But I am out of Columbus, so I think I am just lucky to be in an area with a good freight base.
