My thoughts exactly... Lots of talk about it and no proof, at least none that I've seen. If that's true they should stop soliciting freight and just take on students. Figure 8,000 trucks times $10,000 and turn them out ASAP, that's a lot more revenue than freight is bringing to the table these days. :biggrin_25525:

Unfortunately the powers that be, make it extremely hard to get this information even though it is required by law to be public domain.

One MUST(as in many things dealing with gov't) read between the lines.

For your research on this matter(which hopfully you do). A good place to start is 'The Catolog of Federal Domestic Assistance'. What is their budget? Where does it go? Hint: Look under tranportation training grants under the Dept. of Agriculture (Where is Werner located? Agriculture? hmm?)

You won't find a lot of things published out in the "wide open" public domain. But you are correct in your budget allocations.

Even CFI obtained some of these funds. And they openly admitted it to the drivers that were there. They were actively seeking trainers at that time. And were bragging about those funds in their monthly news letters.

For those that doubt it, and consider it to be urban legend.

It's not a myth, it's not a BIG secret. It's just not publicized often. Could I find a link for evidence. I dunno...I don't care.

The end result will be the same. THEY will make money off of it. YOU won't. So it doesn't matter if you have evidence. You couldn't do anything about it...if you had a trailer load of evidence. Except whine.

Sorry, but this no more than urban legend. The way it works is, someone spreads a claim by email or on internet forums, then says that it's "secret" and the information isnt public knowledge (that is nonsense, all public and labor spending is a matter of public record), which absolves the accuser of proving the claim. Entirely too convenient, in my opinion.

Telling me stories of how someone said this or someone said that is not proof. I have owned businesses, I have worked at the executive level in corporations. I have hired people, I have fired people, and unfortunately I have laid people off of work. Other than TAX INCENTIVES, I have never heard of the government handing out $10,000 checks to companies to train people. And another thing, WHICH government office hands out these checks. Which level? Federal? State?

Cmon, guys. Dont pass these wild rumours around without any small attempt to provide some documentation. And tossing the "proof" ball back into my court is not going to work. You want to make people believe this rubbish, do the homework and provide evidence to back up these wild claims.

You can cling to that belief if you want. If it helps you sleep better, I recommend it.

I trained for CFI during this period. EVERY driver that worked for them had access to the company newsletter. It clearly stated they had received Federal money to support this program. Hell they were proud of it.

Did they mail them out to the general public? NO ! That would be stupid. The cost would be astronomical.

Oh, trust me: I'm not clinging to anything. I could care less one way or the other. the Federal Govt spends MUCH more money that IS reported than I can count.

Now, I dont doubt for one minute that the company newsletter stated that CFI received Federal money for training purposes. My question is the amount and how long the "program" would actually last. $10,000 in cash per trained body is absolutely ludicrous. And again, there is no evidence of that amount, which like I said before has grown in the email and conspiracy circles since I first heard it.

No, I do not expect the government or CFI to be sending out newsletters or any other notifications to the general public. That is what press conferences are for, along with Lexxus-Nexxus. You, and anyone else, are free to look up the bills that were passed to pay every company who trains newbies $10,000 per head and post it. I'd really be interested to see this. And by the way, when I first heard of it, it was not related to trucking companies. And believe me, something of that scale would never stay secret for long. The media would be all over it like white on rice.

So, if you can, please find me documentation of any CASH payments, anywhere near that amount, directly to companies per person they have trained. Unlike most folks who swallow this tripe, I'm not just going to believe every baseless claim I read on the internet. I'm one that requires at least a SHRED of proof, especially since with as much as I watch the news and read newspapers, I've never seen a report about it, nor can I manage to find any references to it in any newspaper. Trust me, I know the government (especially the Federal govt) spends rediculous amounts of money on things. Case in point: The SPENDULOUS package. But as expensive as it is, it never managed to stay secret.

Keep in mind too that a lot of the bad "press" comes from disgruntled former employees.
