Hey oneshot, you got it right. What you do is very important. Where would this country be without truckers? Thanks for doing what you do and keep on doing it!

I would say i am glad to be leaving the trucking industry after 7 years of tractor trailer driving. I have basically driven every kind of equipment out there and its all the same basically. You work a #### load of hours get little to no time to do anything with your family. And you are totally underappreciated all the time. Not to mention at any given time u could be replaced without any care in the world. DOT is getting worse, freight is at an all time slow, and wages are ridiculously low. Trucking has kept food on the table but thats even becoming a struggle anymore. Do yourself a favor and find another line of work.

    Lil'Devil Thanks this.

Well, don't go into construction right now, or you're REALLY gonna get some "family time". But after a while the "silence of tongues" will be building.
I wonder how many know where that phrase came from, heheh.

I'm not sorry I started trucking... I'm sorry that trucking is not what it used to be with the economy the way it is and sadly the trucking companies do not appreciate what us as drivers contend with to try and make a decent living out here. This is what I have chosen to do with my life, and "NO" no one held a gun to my head to continue this lifestyle. I used to run an average of 3500-4200 mi. per week and am now down to a mere 1800-2500 miles. Thats a huge chunk of change less weekly, but I guess I am thankful to be just paying my bills and alive. There are those not as lucky!!:biggrin_25516:

construction is picking up, but it's really scattered. Seems like I know of some that are still hunting work and some who are covered up, especially those connected with the hail damage from a year ago, now paying off. Took a week and a half to find me a roofer.
The 3 drivers I confer and lunch with are still moderate to low in miles, and I don't see anyone picking up to former status.

A couple things with trucking. This is not like the old days. When you come off the road now it is best to do it right. Make the wrong move and get yourself in a situation where you can't come back will eat at you later when you try to come back. Another tip is try that new gig out, but if it is seasonal or you don't think it is going to work you go one day past 6 months off the road and you might as well toss all those years of trucking out.
