I recently had warranty work done on my truck. While in the shop, the very helpful service manager informed me that the firmware in my dashboard cluster needed to be updated, for a hefty fee of course. At any rate, after the update, my interior lights come on when i open either driver or passenger doors. It didn't do that before the update. i don't like that feature, but i can't figure out how to turn it back off. Anyone with a T680 know how to turn that feature off?

    Ffx95 Thanks this.

Go into the settings on your dash screen and scroll until you find the dark cabin and changh your setting there.

Why did it need to be updated?

I have dealers saying this all the time and I tell them do it for free or it doesn’t get done, I am not paying for it without any justification.

Because there was a glitch in some of the gauges in the digital instrument cluster.

    OK I can see that.

I had one update shoved onto one of the trucks that bricked the body computer, it was to prevent the bricking of the body computer. So since, if it was on their dime, i would consider it.

There’s a setting on the dash cluster called “dark cabin” set it to on. You’ll probably get curious and see a feature called detect trailer leave that off unless you want to get spooked when that buggy feature thinks the trailer disconnected the moment you hit a bump.

I have been all through the dash menu. I admit that I have never seen a "dark cabin" setting. I thought you were only kidding. But i will look for it. Thanks

Yeah. My truck was still running firmware from the factory. The update greatly improved the dash cluster. My truck has the 7" android screen installed with the digital gauges. They wanted $300 to update it. But i looked on Kenworth's website. I was able to use an old flash drive and i updated it myself.
