I was summonsed as a witness for a murder trial once. I had witnessed no murder, so just forgot about it. They came to see me when I didn't show up, and explained the deal and I was somewhat of a witness, leading up to the murder, so was threatened to be there next time. Trial was postponed and I moved out of state, never heard any more about it.

That's kind of different, I was summonsed to a workmans comp hearing by the judge, served by a US Marshall, and I did show up. Good think she was on my side and thought the insurance company was pulling a fast one, still working on it but the offer we turned down was for 25K. So you may not want to ignor them all.

I can't serve jury duty to. I explained them my English is limited. I don't understand some words used during court sessions. Court clerks don't care about it )))

It’s your civic duty as an American. Those of you skipping it, or lying to get out of it make me ill. “Ohhhh I love America!! Unless I have to do something.”

    Ugh.

So I always reschedule my jury duty for thanksgiving week. Courts are only open Monday-Wednesday that week. No one wants to start a case or be there. We have to call for 5 days of which two they’re closed. :D

@mhyn even if you try to tell them your English is limited the county will go as far as to provide you a translator.

you have to hope and pray that you do not get selected for a sequestered jury on a mafia (or other) murder trial...

(i think) once you accept jury duty, your butt is theirs.....to assign you to where ever they need you.

i was mailed a notice once, that i would be called for jury duty in the very near future.

i actually had to have surgery during the time frame they told me. that and physical therapy, i'd not be able to do the time, the doctor sent them the reason(s)...never been called since....

and since i am retired, i can be bored as all heck...so jury duty for me now, would be like watching a reality tv show...LIVE....!!!!

What are the chances of being called for a federal jury duty.

Spouse had that happen once in her life. It said it will be about a month trial.

Somehow the situation imploded on it's own and the whole thing was called off before show time.

My wife was called for federal jury duty. It was a case about money laundering. The trail was about a month long. She works at corporate office of Bank of America and she was paid full for that period.
