I've been saying that for years. I used to feel safe running with a bunch of trucks now I dont.

If there is anything I despise it's a convoy.

We don't run with the trucks anymore. If they are going to go on and have a good big wreck, they can do so without us in it.

Caught two this week unable to stay in their lane trying to get to Little Rock.

    Complacency is a #####.

By the way, MAJOR kudos to Liesl Nielsen! That was one of the best pieces of writing I have EVER read by a journalist covering trucking accidents. Borderline humorous in places, maybe over the border. It was accurate and had a spot on moral to the story.

Seems like a lot of them are just a four-wheeler with a fancy driver's license. When I meet some of these guys on these back roads in East Tennessee, they scare me to death. I've had two driver side mirrors destroyed already this year from drivers running right on the Centerline.

How about those dentists dressed as bikers riding in formation, all trying to look badaxe at me and hog the road, while I keep thinking they might as well be riding a bus if that's all the "freedom" of movement they have on their ride.

One night a few yrs back there was a winter storm predicted for north GA. I just got back on 75 from 285 & it started getting slick. Here comes a few daycabs & Swift, JB, FedX, u know... the regular trouble makers. They were all run nose to tail & side by side @ 62.4 mph. By the time I got to Cartersville I'd had enough. Just as I was going up the get off I heard on the cb"back er down nbound we got trucks & cars all over the road..wipe out!" I would have bet anything that was going to happen. Coming up the ramp the truck behind me asked if I knew how to get around the wreck. I said are u kidding me? if the big road is this slick u dont even want to run thru the woods on a 2 lane, he was smarter than he sounded b/c he came in the TA also.

You get that up in Oregon a lot.

Sorry guys. If the freeway is closed. You can bet the detours are too.

Why anybody would want to take a backroad is beyond me.
