Yes, you can cut them. The lines on mine are only about a foot long.

You can get one now that you does not have the water to mess with.
I bought one last month for the house and it works great, it is a little big for a truck, but they had smaller ones.

May need more power to start unit, home units draw a lot of power to start, some will be better than others.
RV roof mounts have easy starts, big capacitors that provide the surge needed to start compressor. Split systems may not hold up to the vibration and shock from a truck.

I've never seen that particular one on a truck but there's a guy here that has the split system on his truck and it works very well. This is his second truck I believe that he's put one on. Do a search for homemade apu Anand I think you'll find it with a little digging.

Lol. Headache free? I wouldn't go quite that far. I haven't had much of a headache with my apu but none of them keep up good in the South in the summer.

What brand was it? My tripac(old version) makes 65F inside of cab when ambient temp is 105-108F .

I have a Dynasys, 12,000 BTU and it's no match for an 86in sleeper. From the people I've talked to with carrier and TK, they didn't like them any better. You're the only one I've heard say their apu performed that good.

I have posted somewhere in this forum pictures showing air temp coming out from evaporator box of tripac. I am happy with my tripac. It's beast. I don't know why others are not happy. To perform as needed very little maintenance need to done every year before summer.

There’s a great example of a mini split, on “ another window ac thread” posting.
