As of today, Prepass tags will no longer work for tolls. This isn't something those of us who live and work primarily in NY/NJ/New England want to hear.
Theoretically they are shutting it off due to Prepass reorganising their fee structure and raising prices.
This is going to be hard to swallow, particularly since TMC does not reimburse 100% (they take the full battery of taxes out of the reimbursements).
(Edit) apparently it'll still work for scales. You'll need a new tag, though, and get to keep paying the prepass fee.
No more Prepass for tolls

I wonder if this is a prepass/e-zpass combo thing. My prepass didn't work at two scales today, but the e-zpass worked in W.V. this morning.
-
Not sure biscuit but my company is adding norpass in addition to prepass. I guess they have a new deal where they have a unit that will work for both in one box. Could be a restructuring of the whole system as Jpenn said. I have noticed my prepass has not worked at several scales here lately it kind of seems hit and miss which is very odd because we always get green light at scales since our safestat score is like 21 which is very good.

Where did you hear that from that prepass is no longer working is that just for your company

TMC sent a fleet wide message to their drivers. I don't know if it's just TMC or everyone. HTH

just drove from montgomery AL.,to boston MA,then to day all the way across 90 no problems .,with e-zpass and green light at all the scales, except one ,but i think they gave everybody the red light.

According to the fleetwide message the transponders we currently use have to be turned in and if we elect to still use the scale pass we have to get different transponders. I'm already looking for somewhere else to work, they don't pay nearly enough to be a creditor and getting comchecks for every trip down a toll road is just not practical. I'm in Des Moines tonight and I'll drop my transpoder off in the morning, but I have to hit a toll road tomorrow so I'll see how realistic the comcheck for tolls idea is. I'm from the Chicago area, so every time I go home I would have to deal with this mess. I like how they tried to make it seem like no big deal saying they did it this way for years and their competitors don't use pre-pass either. I call BS on that one, but I'm going to ask around and see if any other major carrier doesn't use pre-pass. Ugh, what a shot in the junk.

I used ezpass 6 times today in MD & NJ.
-
I used EZ-Pass on the Tappan Zee and Pennsylvania Turnpike this afternoon - no problems. Prepass worked yesterday in OH. Nothing from the palace at Prime on the subject. Last time we had an EZ-Pass problem, they were very up-front with the QualComm messages.

Just had a thought, maybe pre-pass got soaked from the trucking outfits that fild bankruptcy andleft them oweing or paying the tolls for companies that aren't there any more.
