Headlight Problem

    I put H4 headlight conversions in my truck to get rid of the sealed beam and have some better light. The Western stars use a 4 light system and the problem I have with the new lights which I don't with the old ones is, When you have low beam on the highbeam bulbs stay on real dim, then when you switch to highbeam the low beam bulbs would go dim when they were suppose to go bright with the other high beams. I didn't modify the wires in any way and the only thing thats technically changed is the bulbs I put in are higher watts.

    Would that be causing my problem?

    Everything worked fine with the regular head lights i didn't change the wiring at all. Think its that the ground isn't strong enough for the extra draw with the new lights?

    yeah i would check to make sure the grounds are tight and clean. and your high beam and low beam terminals are in the same spot as old bulbs for the new bulbs

    I have many friends which have change out the old seal beams to the new lamps, there is new wiring required, along with relays. I don't know which light brand you bought and they are all different. Are your new lights constructed with two lamps in one fixture. Did you get a set of instructions for the installation. Grounding may be the issue, but the truck wiring may be setup for seal beams.

    The wiring on the H4 bulbs is definetly differant than the sealed beams. Spend some time with a dvm and rewire as needed.

    If the sealed beams use different wiring then the sealed beams then i'll have to check into how my truck is wired as to how its suppose to be wired. Thanks guys

    did you ever figure out what was wrong with your headlights i got the same problem when i put on 359 pete headlights???
