Where is everyone #5

Watching TV a while ago and came across a show called Classic Tractor Show. Thought of you @OLDSKOOLERnWV channel 229 on cable.

 

Company man: “Could you possibly unload it yourself?”

Shooter: “Who do you think you’re talkin to? @stwik ?”

 

Tell us a short piece of what you remember about it, if you don't mind

 

Basically what I remember is sitting if front of the black and white TV with my family and watching intently, being very quite so as to be able to make out what they were saying, and seeing a very scratchy picture.
Seeing them walk in conditions with very little gravity was cool, and seeing them stab our flag into the moon dust was really neat too.

Also, in those days, they swapped back and forth to Mission Control where they showed all of the folks monitoring the functions of everything. They would play the audio communications between Mission Control and each of the astronauts as well, which cut out a bit.

That was when the US finally got ahead of the Soviets in Space travel and exploration, and a very proud moment for our country!

 

I should add that this is a "Non Ground Bearing" RGN. Witzco and maybe some others build one that has a ram in the neck that just pushes down to a pad on the ground. I have never used one of those, but I understand that they can be a PIA if the ground is not firm because it will just push the pad into the ground instead of lifting the trailer.

 

Amazing how something never change.

 

Back in those Cold War days and the Space Race, it was a matter of National Pride to beat the Soviet Union to the Moon

That seemed to be the thing that excited Folks the most

 

My parents are both in their 60s...

You folks realize that Apollo 11 was a feat of human achievement that comes along perhaps once in a millennium. The Vikings discovered North America about 1000AD, the next big feat of human exploration IS the first time a person has left the earth, walked on anther celestial body and returned safely. There is only one first like this in historical context, going to Mars or other planets will be major feats but, Apollo 11 was and is the beginning of all human space exploration.
