If I work a lot of overtime, like 70+ hours weekly, doing OTR, how much can I make after taxes? How much will my pay go up each year? Thanks for your insights.
On average how much should I make my first year?

overtime?
You won't get overtime pay unless you drive for a company that uses a time clock or time sheets...
And those Jobs fill fast.
If you plan on driving typical over the road , You will get paid mileage or percentage- You'll average under $20 per hour for all your time.Bean Jr., FlaSwampRat and shakalaka Thank this. -
I'm wondering how much I can expect to make. Can I make 50k that first year, after taxes, if I work 70+ hours a week? -
FlaSwampRat and shakalaka Thank this.

You're going to get those who say you can't hit $50k the first year, and you'll have those that say you can.
In my experience, I had 10 years of local driving before I went and did my stint OTR. That didn't exactly mean much though. I started at the same pay as a newbie fresh out of school.
I started in July, and by the end of the year, I'd made right around $25k (this was in 2009). And by July of 2010, which was a full year there, I'd made $51k. And I didn't have to work hard.
So it's very possible to make $50k the first year as long as you don't work for a crap company. @Chinatown could probably give some insight on where to go.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -

My bad, didn't see that. -
Depends on the type trucking you are doing and if you have endorsements.
$55K - $65K is easy the first 12 mos. as a solo driver, after dumping the trainer.
Have to get rid of the trainer so you can work for yourself and not be padding his paychecks.lovesthedrive and Vic Firth Thank this. -
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

A lil advice. If you don’t have experience money should just about be the furthest thing from your mine. But to answer your question it is said that the first you won’t make a profit, legibly of course.
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
