    North east,no big thing. You just have the roads and the time of day to stay off the roads. You dont go into new york city or philly at rush hour, have to get in very early, nyc before 5am the same for philly. And yes NO PARKWAYS IN NY or your be sorry:biggrin_2555:.And the nice cops don't mess with you unless you do some dum, like stuck under a low overpass, you just have to take your time.It happen to me had to let all the air out my tires,to get unstuck, good thing I was going about 3mph:yes2557:Rust hour is an killer up in the north east, timeing is everything, you just cant get punk out,the 4 wheelers dont care about big trucks around here, they will cut off in a second,up here you follow new rules. You learn fast, call ahead, get you map out find the truck routes, and yea GPS can mess up allso ask me:biggrin_25516:And yes the signs in NY or about 10in higher because the snow,12"6=13"6 and so on.Hey did it was easy, but truckers do it every day.

    hey, i didnt think that i had to mention about the underpasses, thats a givin...is it not???? i mean we are all proffesionals here, and we ALL no to check anc re-check our atlas, dont we? haha, nope. not every one use a map anymore, they just follow that stupid qc, and trust it all the way.
    every time i went somplace new i ALWAYS called, and asked to speak to anyone that knows about the truck routs in the area, 99.999% of the time they were correct, after a while i stopped calling because i would frequent the same place time after time, which does make it a lot easier
    and yes, trucks do it everyday, all day with no problems,
    i was talking to an retired cop from ny and he said that cops dont bother trucks until someone gets ran over, then they crack down on the trucks for a few weeks for being where they should not be, then they cool down.
    iv been harrassed and picked on by DOT mostly in NY, and i have also had some really nice encounter with them as well. up state ny, the lady said they have trucks around back ALLLLL the time, no matter how many times i told her that my truck is huge, even explained to her how we truck drivers live in our trucks, to get my point across on the size, she said its no problem, so around i went..couldnt make it, got stuck between an island and tele-pole, had to have highway patrol assist me to get out, they were super nice,

    For me it's the parking; If you get there after even 4pm, where are you going to park?

    The second thing is, the percieved, on my part, lack of momentum----can you get 3000+ miles every week on a consistent basis if you stay in the northeast?

    Other than that, i actually like the N.E.; i like being around crowds and driving in crowded areas NYC etc. i can deal with 55 (even though the sign says 65, you really can't go but 55 alot of the time due to congestion)

    There are places i know that you are assured of getting a safe, legal place to park everynight regardless of what time of the night it is, but yet i can't tell anyone;
    i normally try to be as helpful as possible all the time, but if i tell then before you know it, these spots will be choc-full in no time.

    That's how bad it is parking-wise, and i feel bad that i can't tell.

    But other than that i like N.E.

    I dont mind the NE once you get north of CT. I really like ME runs because Im guaranteed 1450 mi run home. But as far as the 7 boros of he11 the only one I dont mind is long island once you get out on it. its just getting there thats the major headache.

    i hear ya about not being able to tell someone where to park, even at my term in nj i made the mistake of tellin someone where to get an open wireless connection for the laptop, everyone would ask me why i park all the way up the street away from the yard, and i told just one person, and now i cant get within 200 feet of the area most times cause other drivers, even other companies are parked there using what was once the Hidden Spot for myself haha.

    but for someone who has spend 2 years out west, then makes a run to hatford ct will just be plain pi$$ed off. cause its not as open as it is els where.

    Truck stop locations, for those of you who don't have a T/S directory, or exit guide, the NE..hell the whole east can be a headache.

    Out here in the west most T/S have a billboard announcing the not far ahead T/S, (Jubitz comes to mind..Billboard on I80 in WY, only 983 miles to Jubitz...LOL..that one is great) (Jubitz is in Portland, OR for you newbies). Anyway, back east you have to know your exit for the T/S or you can wait and WATCH as it goes by in your right window!

    Even with the book it's a problem. They fill up around 3 pm. It's crazy here in NJ.

    They got me running up and down through ME and NH this week. I dont mind the back roads but when you add rain/fog/darkness and 46,700lbs in the box it gets a little stressful. Ill take it on a dry and sunny day any day but rain and darkness bug me on all these blind off camber corners.
