Went to pick truck up from shop after getting minor things done(belts brakes lugs) to the truck I went to go start it and nothing called the mechanic out he said wow that doesn't sound good(the clicking of the starter) then he tried to move the accessory drive with a breaker bar couldn't budge it he turns and says to me it's locked up! WTF is what i am thinking....prior to this the truck had been running I would crank it up and let it idle for a few mins or so anyways mechanic says the accessory drive could be locked up along with other few things at this point I really want to do an inframe he suggest changing the main bearing.......any pointers on what directions I should go......any good sources on inframe kits.

I must be missing something.
You have it in the shop having belts and brakes done. When "you try" to start it, now its locked up? Motors don't lock up sitting in the parking lot. (unless your MM and you fill it with water
) sorry, couldn't resist.
There has to be more to this story......... -
Well I'm baffled by this as well..........However the mechanic said it could have been in the process of locking up...I still don't know
-
They are going to tear it down and we are going to go from there
-
pull the starter first to make sure it's not just jamed into the flywheel locked up.
ordinarily if a rod or something is broke you can usually turn it a little one direction or the other. -
I told him the same thing..He's been having trouble with it spining over. Drags then fires off. I think he's gonna need a new starter. Hopefully not a flywheel.
There could be a 100 different things that could cause it not to spin over. I called for him and started to get the run around. When I let him(mechanic) know I that I am not mechanically challenged his story changed real quick. He said he'd open it up and have more specifics for me and/or 89 this evening. Funny how stories change when they find out your not fertilizing your field today.
1989 Pete Thanks this. -
I'm just asking since it was just sitting in the parking lot, I'm assuming the batteries were 100%, but a dead battery would cause the starter to click and not turn over. Not sure about moving the accessory drive, seems that would spin free with a breaker bar against it.
-
I don't know about your truck but mine you can't get a breaker bar on the flywheel without removing the fan shroud. I don't think you should be able to turn it off the accessory drive since it's gear up I believe

A breaker bar on the accessory drive pulley bolt should allow you to turn the engine over.

Well hopefully I will hear something tomorrow I'll keep ya guys posted!!!!!
