I ran for a fleet owner,it depends what part of the country you are in for example,if you get a load to FL.expect to sit down there for days.Unless the owner you are running for allows you to make the decision to reposition without a load. The owner I ran for controlled what loads we took and where we sat,we sat in FL. for 5 days before he would let us reposition to SC.It just depends on what owner you run for.I had actually called Panther yesterday to be put on the list to be set up with a different owner,so maybe I'll see ya along the way.As far as freight they were really pushing to have drivers gain government clearance to do more stuff since the auto industry has dramaticly slowed down,it's been a few months so I don't know if they are still pushing for that or not.A GPS unit helps alot, most of the directions they give thru the QC were not always right when it came to city streets.Hope this helps, good luck.....Forgot to say Chicago is an excellent area for freight!

Are you running a class"A" or "B"?Panther requires at least 6 months to run a class"A",I only have 2 months so I had to run "B".I don't want to but it would be a job.I hope you have good luck with whoever you are teamed with,my experience was not a good one but hope the next time will be better.

I don't know too much about the cargo vans,I know that there is alot of them.Even in the truck we had we got some cargo van loads because there wasn't one around at the time the customer wanted one.Have you done OTR before in the cargo van?Be prepared to pay for showers, must truck stops require you to purchase at least 50 gallons of diesel fuel to get a free shower.

Nope never been OTR in a van but I do have some cargo van experience. I was told if I was to go to Flying J and sign up for the card and I could fill up the van and I could earn a 1/2 shower. Here is what flying J website says
With every minimum 50-gallon fuel purchase members receive:

    • Free shower and fountain drink with a minimum fuel purchase of 50 gallons or more at Flying J locations (fuel purchases between 15-49 gallons receive ½ shower point and ½ drink point which will automatically be credited to your account)
I could pay for the other half or wait to fill up twice then take a shower or something. If it takes 2 days to fill up I could take a baby wipe bath haha

I drove cargo van for Panther from Nov until the end of Feb now teaming in a streight truck. We are you looking at as an owner? 20 gal fill up at the Flying J gives you a half shower

lil may,who were you talking to with the question"We are you looking at as an owner?"I didn't quite get what you are saying there or who you're talking to me-newlife or jeepwj02.Not trying to be harsh just trying to follow your conversation right. If you're new to the site(as am I) it helps if to specify who you are responding to or when asking specific questions.

lil may,if you are asking me-newlife,who or what kind of owner I'm looking for.Well as far as teammate male/female I don't care. The only thing I'm being picky about is that I will not team with a smoker.I'm willing to stay out up to 6 weeks if I'm paired with an owner that is based in another state other than my own which is MI.If your question was not directed at me I apoligize.
