Yea i completely understand. I have nothing to lie about so its all good, One question though. How far back do they check your MVR? Because I have an accident and a speeding ticket from about 4 1/2 - 5 years ago. Do I need to just tell them about it or is old enough to were it doesnt matter?

ironpony.... the cdl certified instructor training is like 4-5 days then ur out teaching how to get a cdl to move on to a trainer... but on the training pad 98% of students are failing the cdl road test, backing on the pad and pre trip... now u said some people arent made to be drivers... but guess what.. there is no such thing as bad trainee.. just bad TRAINERS!!....so what ur saying is everyone who fails isnt made to be a driver. my CERTIFIED CDL INSTRUCTOR dont tell or show me ####... even when i ask him he is to busy on the cell phone or sleeping in his bunk...hell i even used my digital cam to record him in there 4 two hours... just to cover my ###...i wonder what day prime taught them that...he wont teach me #### but when i do something wrong he flips out and starts screaming like a lunitac..and if i ask hiom anything he shrugs his shoulders. and goes back to the phone... or always telling me i need to drive faster...if there are good cdl instructors out there i wish i could find one....i came here to drive... PERIOD..i do good when i drive but that dont mean i dont need to be taught anything...hell he only let me try to back up once dont show me anything on billing or qualcom, or hooking up a trailer..or even explain anything about the pretrip....i allready ahve math skills so i dont have to be taught that when i drive he makes money...and he gets paid while im in his truck .. but hell atleast he can do is earn some of it..and ill cal prime and ask to be reassigned and they will say... ur almost done just hang in there another week or two..then they get mad when students fail the tests.. they have alot more trainers then cdl instructors so im sure they dont drop them as often as they should...so alot of the bad ones stay in the instructor spot

As far as I recall it's work history for 10 years (documented and verifiable as possible) and MVR for 5 years. Keep in mind it's what the computer says it is.

As far as your work history, they do understand if companies and people have dissapeared and/or dropped off of the planet! Just make sure what you put down on paper matches what's in the record as it exists.

If it's far enough back it won't matter - pay for a full copy of your MVR, and see what's there.

I would get re-assigned... There is no excuse for that crap... My Instructor was awesome and I have met a couple others. I feel really bad when I hear about these idiots, like the one you have.

You need to report him, and present your evidence... that is the only way to get this guy booted. If you tough it out, are you going to pass your test?

What will it look like to the powers that be if you fail your test and then you complain? It will look like your trying to make excuses. Did you get the speech I got... "If you see something unsafe, report it!" If you wait until after the test, whether you fail, or pass and then with the instructor survey sheet, it could reflect badly on what kind of employee you might be.

(BTW, there is a survey sheet where you do critique your instructor... Mine gave it to me, and he left it to me to turn in... seek out this form, cause I doubt he will give it to you and make sure you turn it in!)

Do the right thing... especially if you have the video evidence... It may slow you up a couple days... but how bad will you get held up, if you fail the test and they send you packing.

I can see how disapointed you can get if this instructor is the one of the intital impressions you get from Prime. My experiance has been great and I owe it alot to the things my Instructor (who also did my training phase) taught me.

If these things you say are true (and I have no reason to doubt you), I urge you to do something about it...

One last thing, the instructors main job is to teach you to safely operate the vehicle... especially sitting next to you while you drive. No student should be forced to drive any faster than they are comfortable... and there are rules about students driving at night.

I think the instructor should walk you through the Pre trip once and test you at the end before your test. Its YOUR responsibility to get out there with the sheet and practice it...

This is not an excuse, and I think its dumb, but alot of instructors wait until just before the test to teach backing. They swear up and down by it... and I find their reasoning hollow.

A couple things can wait till your training phase... like the Qualcomm, Comchecks, dealing with shippers and recievers.

Grey areas are dropping and hooking trailers

Okay, i drove for Transport America till the week before thanksgiving. I was hearing rumors before i left that TA was in deep finacial trouble. So i left. And i headed to Prime.....

Some are thinking NO NO NO, but I was actually stoked to go. My buddy came over to Prime in october, he leased for 3 months and now has 2010 pete 387. so i went through orientaion, all that was originally said, and signed my lease. this was in december.

so i drove off, it was really rough, feul dropped severly, my buddy made money off the feul surcharge, and i went behind. ha i think a mistake was getting married 6 weeks into the lease, IT REALLY WASNT. but $1500 in the hole hurt. My fleet manager got me out of that hole within 1 week, which i was surprised.

Oh man my fleet manager was a...um .... fruitcake! well he was slow and he was not even trying to get the loads i needed. it sucked because i was getting just by. i then got really pist at my fleet manager. And i reported him to the operation manager. and now i got a new fleet manager.

but another reason i am writing is because i will be becoming a trainer within the next month or so. i want to train because i want drivers to learn the right way and to show the trucking commititee that Prime has change and are commitited to being the safest.

    some fast facts:
Prime currently has one of the highest prepass ratings.
Prime is one of the safest companys within an average of 5 DOT accidents a week, Out of 5000 trucks.

Ill be starting a training thread here some time thanks, Cpt Scotty
