We do not have truck stops anything like you guys are used to.
The closest thing we have was never open 24 hours. They always opened at 5 am and closed at 11 pm.
They recently changed their hours, they will start selling fuel at 6 am, stop at 8 pm. They don't start serving food till 8 am.
On weekends no fuel till 8 am.
I liked to fuel there especially if I am running borderline on weight, as it is passed the scale house, but they are now making it hard to do.
I used to try and be there at 5 am, fuel and eat breakfast, them days are no more.
They also sold a lot of brown bag lunches a guy would take with him, I don't see much of that happening, if no food will be served till 8 am..

It looks to me like they are shooting them selves in the foot.

If business drops off significantly, they'll change back...or shut down completely. Might just be a staffing issue...if they were having trouble finding employees willing to work those hours for what they could afford to pay. Or they may have looked at when their "peak" operating hours were and adjusted accordingly, as there is no point in paying staff to be there at the ready for a small number of customers. If they were losing money during those hours, it makes sense to not be open...makes the profitable hours that much more profitable.

Without looking at their books, it's hard to say. Have you tried talking to management? Around here, a lot of gas stations close at night...but you can still pay at the pump and fuel after hours. Only problem is if the printer is out of paper or jammed up, there is nobody there to print you one.

In BC almost every community if its more than 500 people has a 24 hour, 365 days a year, cardlock. Surprised that they don't just put one in there, then anyone who has a credit card can fuel up anytime. I hate going to regular fuel stations even if they are open, they usually have a bunch of annoying people hanging around. Was at a nice card lock last week that even had vending machines for oil, washer fluid, def, bottled water, as well it had 4 diesel, and 2 gas pumps. No line ups, when I arrived there was 2 trucks and 1 car there. By the time that I was done fueling up they had all left, and one logging truck had pulled in. No annoying people, no line ups, and cheap fuel because not paying for a pile of employees and wasted overhead. At home I fuel in the yard, I have two 76,000 liter ( 20,077 gallons thanks google ) tanks buried in the yard, and Petro Canada bulk delivers my DEF to a tank kept in the shop so its toasty warm in the winter since the piss water freezes so easily. So nice to haul my fuel from a rail siding 8 minutes drive away.

LOL, I wish we had the card locks like Canada does. You would flat pull your hair out trying to fuel here, especially paying at the pump after hours.
This is how it goes. you pay with a card for more than you need, it only charges the card for what you actually get,but the bank holds the remainder a few days before you actually get it back. They will not hold your card until you fuel, then let you pay.
Now this is even worse, I can not hand them 1000 cash, green hundred bills to hold and get them to turn the pumps on, they will just not do it for some stupid reason.
I can pay at the pump, that is even stupider, at one place it will only give you 75 bucks then repeat, the other finally raised it to 125 bucks, then run your card again.
When I pulled hot oil tankers, I would seldom get back in town while they were open, and had to go through that goat rope a time or two. I finally started keeping the dragup tanks on my pickups full and fill out of them when I needed to.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
