Hello Central Peeps!
Just wanted everyone to know that i'm over my hissy fit and moving on! LOL I applied to Stevens and they sent me an email yesterday so I hope to have a better experience with the recruiter! I don't hold any hard feelings against Central as a company but I believe they could comunicate with their recruiters better. I want to thank everyone for their support and suggestions! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I think it is funny that JJ and others find Russ to he helpful.
When I put in my on-line App. and was called the first time, I was at work.
It was Russ that talked to my wife, and left his name and extension.
So for the next 4 days I called a few times a day, but was always transfered to some girls voice mail. I even called the direct number, talked to a person, and asked for him, and still got transfered to some girls voice mail, or hung up on.
Finally I got sick of it. I called and once again asked for someone in Recruiting. It was a girl (no idea who) and I told her that this was my last time calling. Explained what had happened, and she said that Russ was new, and did not know how to use his phone properly yet, so when he was answering, he would accidentally either hang up or transfer the calls.
Anyway, I told her that I did not give a rats backside about who got the commission. I wanted to deal with the person I actually had on the phone. It took a total of 4 min.
She then set up my date to come. Got a confirmation call 3 days later, and went for a refresher 2 weeks after that. I talked to the recruiter 2 times total for maybe 6 min.
This is why I don't remember the name. She never did anything to help or hurt me. I knew what I was going there for, and that was that. -
Does anybody here know why you have to be a california resident to take the training for Central in California? I asked one of the recruiters in Cal and one in Utah and neither of them knew the reason. I was surprised when the lady in Cal told me this- because they don't tell you that on the website when you go shopping a school. Thanks.

I think someone may have talked to Russell about answering his phone Lol because anyone we have had talk to Russ has got hold of him pretty quick and it doesn't hurt that he is the head of recruiting.
utahhomesick, Sorry really can't help you there, I have no idea. -
Utahshomesick,
Perhaps it is because Utah is the better facility for training? I learned that from the good folks in this thread. Keep us posted on when you apply since I have been thinking about going for Central too.Last edited: May 31, 2009

How is everyone doing? Seems a little quiet around here.Thought I might tell you how Rhino and Chunter81 has been this week! Here's a rundown on a few highlights.
Rhino went back from home time this last Monday. Chunter picked him up about 30 miles from our home where he was going thru. They had a load going to FL. So their dm told them to come to Conley drop it there, get a few things done to the truck and he would get them a load going away from FL. lol The condenser had went out on the AC and Rhino already knew this Chunter had been running with no air. They told him to take it to KW and just make sure it wasn't covered first. Rhino goes to KW Tues I think it was and they told him something was wrong with the hood and it was pressing on the condenser so not covered. Rhino hasn't had this truck long so he goes back to Conley and tells them they are going to fix it, no charge. That goes okay. He got an oil change that took them hmmm bout 14 hours to get to and do! He went to the shop many times and they were ALWAYS on a break. They had to wait on the condenser to be fedexed and that was another day. In the mean while no one there was liking Rhino to much! After his trip to KW he came back and that night stayed in his truck. He texted me about 1am and said he was very sick. He told me all of these symptoms that seemed like carbon monoxide. So he went in to get out of the truck. The next morning I texted him a few times and called many. He never answered and his buddy was at a motel and couldn't get a hold of him. I called his dm (which is there in Conley) and he said they would check on him right away. He was still asleep and not feeling good at all. He told them in the shop that he had been sick and was smelling something. They being with so much expertise!
Told him it was the dye that KW had put in to check the AC. So no problem right? Well, they had been in Conley for 5 days waiting on parts and whatever. Rhino went back to the guys in the shop and told them again! They look at the truck and tell him the exhaust is leaking. Hmmm big red truck! Or black in this case. At this time they had already received a load to leave about 3 am Saturday morning headed to SLC. Because of course the truck had been cleared and was told there was no leak! Now they had to give up the load. When they tell him this KW is already closed for the evening. So the next morning he went back to KW and they fixed it in a couple hours. KW told him it was completely broke in half! No charge was under warranty. Finally they left Conley yesterday afternoon. Needless to say, there is a few in the shop that will be looking for a new job this week. Not everyone at Conley are idiots, his dm is doing everything he can and making sure they are paid for down time. But there are a few there that is just lost. I don't understand everything you have to go thru to get a job driving but common sense isn't even required for some positions.
Rhino told me he wished it wasn't a law to hit stupid people!

Oh, I bout forgot the good part. Rhino's truck (which as you know he's an O/O) was sitting close to the shop. He comes out one morning and there is a sign on his truck and it says, "needs fan belt". So he goes and ask what the bull? One of the guys told him that one of the night crew had taken off his belt to put on another truck!!! Are they crazy??? Like I said there are a couple looking for work!
-
Having your Truck down is a pain in the #ss and costly!!
We hope to run a few weeks now with no downtime for repairs
but who knows you can keep up the best maintainance and still have problems.
-
I can't believe they took his belt to place it in another truck!
