Really effective removal of the split speed limit.

Most trucks are limited to 65 and below. It will still be a split speed state.

Ohio is not raising the truck speed to 65 for getting rid of the split speed limit the only reason they are doing it is fear of not getting federal bailout money. There budget is drained. I have a friend of the family who is an Ohio St trooper and he said that have been told that if they are not " creating enough revenue while on duty " that they could be in danger of losing jobs because of the budget. I personally wouldn't have a problem with a 65/70 mph Ohio or any other state but 55 on the open road is way to slow and a 10 mph split is too much.

There is no risk of the bail out money for this reason. I doubt Illinois signs the law. It has been there 4 times before over 10 years or more.

California will not raise it as well.

The state of Ohio is talking about raising the speed limit to 70 because they feel the cars should STILL drive faster than the trucks. So, it will still end up a split speed limit and therefore an unsafe situation.

Either way,I will be happier than a pig in **** when July 1st gets here.Wow.It's going to be weird doing 65 in the buckeye and not worrying about a ticket. If Illinois raises the truck speed to 65 that would be nice too. Illinois troopers don't seem to be as strict as Ohio troopers or at least I don't think they are.I run 60-65 in Illinois and don't think twice about it.Every second I'm going over 55 in Ohio though I feel like I'm committing sins and waiting for God to strike me down lol Whatever happens out there,be safe drivers!

I have a family friend who is a OH State Trooper and he has already warned me to be very careful because they are going to write tickets for 66MPH! But like you said I'll be happy to set the cruise about 63 or 64 and just watch my speed going down the hills. :biggrin_255:

Yes, just make it 65 and end it. Ohio is too congested for 70 anyway.

I heard that the Illinois governor was elected partly because he was going to get rid of the split speed limit. When he got in, he changed his mind. The state troopers, a lot of whom voted for him, were angry at him for lying so they decided to leave us alone for the most part.

Just another rumor over the CB but it does make sense.

    Definately a rumor.

Illinois has not had any governor in either party willing to sign the document. The current governor will most likely wimp out as well.
