Detroit says my block is a 2004 according to the Vin when they run it. The decal on the valve cover say it was rebuilt in 11. It's a 2012 Columbia glider. Can it really be a 2004 engine?![]()
Already built Glider trucks

The 12.7L wasn't discontinued until 2007 so yeah it's possible. But that means you have an EGR 12.7L engine unless the EGR has been deleted.
jamespmack and Intothesunset Thank this. -
The regs state engine year is what rules for elog go by.jamespmack, HillbillyDeluxeTruck and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Man there is a cluster F of misinformation I this thread.
jamespmack Thanks this. -
It's a Schneider glider, have the factory build list and it's a factory rebuild installed at the factory. No egr.jamespmack Thanks this.

Wow, I thought every Detroit engine produced from 2003 forward had EGR, so I guess not. There's no way the factory would ever go backwards on emissions deleting an EGR.
-
That's hat Detroit said, mine has no egr and is a glider kit? Can the block he an 04 with a different head front cover etc?
-
I believe EGR came out mid year in 2004. I know of someone who bought a 2004 reman from Detroit, 14L no EGR. This was a complete engine, not just a block or 3/4. I'd imagine Detroit, could not optionally not add the EGR if it was originally there.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
Here in Australia We were getting Non EGR 14 litres series 60s right up to the end of 2007..rollin coal Thanks this.

How and who are you getting the info that the block is 04 block? Local Detroit dealer? Detroit East?
