Fifth Wheel Adjustment

When I was shopping for a new plate, the price was about double from a regular one, IIRC.
The reason is, it's not only the top that's greaseless, the bushings and pivot points underneath are also greaseless.
I decided to go regular, I couldn't justify the price and I'm not pulling the same trailer.

 

The disc for trailer seems like the way to go. My main concern is protecting the Trailer, plate and pin from wear. Still need to grease jaws and pivots. No big deal.

 

You are correct, still have to detach every so often to grease kingpin with the plate on the trailer around the kingpin. Also still shoot grease into pivots. But no grease on the top plate really keeps the frame cleaner. Another plus about the nylon plate is that the trailer always pulls the same, doesn’t matter if the weather is wet or dry.

 

Get a plate with grease holes from underneath, extend the grease lines to the side and give them a shot every now and then while the trailer is still hooked up.
