Well i'm not any better than anybody else and don't think so. If i come off like that it is not intentional. I am sometimes just blunt and to the point but in no way think i'm better than anybody else but thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Last friday while I was waiting for a driver to unload his tanker, my dispatcher asked me to drop my trailer, pick up a empty, and go next door to get some ash, and unload it back at the yard, I was already in. Well the I was in a bad mode and it showed. Not because I had to do this, but the other driver had pissed me off. So I get out of the truck drop the landing gear, unhook my lines. Get in the truck, deflate the bags and pull out. Next thing I hear is a pop, and bang, I knew I had screwed up. I for got to unhook the hot hose, from the blower and ripped it clean off.. Had to put it in the shop and get it fixed, only took 30mi but was embarrassed to say the least..

then why mention the names?? you obviously did or you wouldnt have put that in there.

REGARDLESS, i'd pay you money to stand at that same corner for 24 hours, and see how many times it happens. Oh, and you have to report on every company you see who did it. I'd be willing to bet, unless you work for some little company with 4 trucks, you might just see your beloved company name on the side of one of those doors. Happens more than twice a day, my friend.

I've done that, not on purpose, but because I see a traffic flow sign (you know, the ones with the curved arrows right or left, and the one going straight?) and it only shows one lane, then by the time you get up to the intersection, they have painted a curve onto one of the arrows that was originally going straight, but nobody ever changed the sign.....or something similar. And i've done it where i'm in traffic, and honestly paying more attention to the cars around me than to that traffic flow sign, and get into the wrong lane. Know what i do? i DONT just make the turn, and say 'to hell with it'.....i dont even move until i see NOBODY coming up my right side, and everybody in that lane has moved past me. Then i'll 'lane change' in the middle of my turn....and i do it VERY VERY SLOWLY watching my mirrors 90% of the time. Not all Swift/JB Hunt drivers are totally stupid just because you see one from each doing something stupid.

why is it that there are always some drivers out there who must not feel very good about themselves without throwing around their resume, or how many miles they've driven. who cares....and NO it is not right to judge someone based upon the name on their door, and lump them in with other drivers in the past where you've seen them do something stupid. You are correct, we all started somewhere. You once passed the 5,000 mile mark, too. And i'm willing to bet you've torn up equipment because of doing something stupid.

to judge someone based upon past information would be like saying the Indiananpolis Colts must suck cause they didnt win the super bowl this past year.

Because we have earned the right to. I am proud of what i have accomplished, however, I stated that to someone who has just started and has not been out here long enough to know what i was talking about yet he wanted to act like he had been out here for 20 yrs. And no i have never torn any equipment up i have been fortunate enough to complete over 1 million miles accident free. I have made mistakes just like anyone but never been in an accident or torn up equipment.

Tell that to the DOT thats what they do with the safestat scoring system.

UUUUMMMM. What else would you judge someone off of except the past, their future performance?
And by the way I'm a colts fan and they did suck last year.

seeing how its in ones job description, rather than just a hobby of yours, makes things a little different...yeah??

i'd like you to re-read this. "..judge SOMEONE off ... past (performance).." Just contradicted yourself there. If you're going to judge my skill, better judge MY skill....not the overall skill of average drivers of a company you might not care for.

and i agree....someone with a million mile award has a little more clout than a driver with 5 mo experience, thinking they have 20 years. But they could also have more tact than you.

Hell, just because someone has 3 different degrees, and 5 different docterates, havent yet seen one to carry them all in wallet size in their back pocket, only to flash them out like baby pictures when they feel superior to whomever they're talking to.
