The "safety" blitz doesn't bother me at all... I wish they would do it more often, maybe it would get more of these bottom dweller cheap freight haulers off the road. Only question I have about it is, What do all these "DOT" officers do the rest of the year when they're not doing the safety blitz? ..... sit behind desks eating donuts?

The "safety blitz" (or regular inspections, for that matter) don't bother me ... except when it screws up my logbook. :biggrin_25525:

What does bother me is when they pore over the truck or logbook and rather than give a guy a clear inspection, they put some insignificant (chicken stuff) violation on there ... like today.

I went through the Rainbow, CA (I-15 NB) scale and got pulled in. I got my sticker, but for a supposed Level 1; she didn't check my wipers, horn, seatbelt, fifth wheel, exhaust, etc. She didn't even open the hood (although I'm not sure any inspection in CA ever has). Nor was I asked for my safety triangles or fire extinguisher. However, she did note "leaking differential V-1, X-2". So I asked (nicely), "Are you sure it's leaking? Because I just had it serviced and the fluid changed last week." At which point she got kind of snotty with me, so I let it go. When I pulled out of the bay though, I stopped and checked the differential myself. Sure enough, the fluid on the differential wasn't "fresh" and it had obviously come from the breather (overfilled at change and when it got hot some fluid came out). :biggrin_25526:

Other than that, Santa Clarita was too full for me, so on I went ... only eight more scales to home. :biggrin_2554:

Trying to understand this... either you're running great priced freight in which case why would you care, or, everyone else is making you run cheap freight in which case who are you talking about? I don't know anyone not affected by freight rates right now.

I'm sure the ten drivers pulled over in a 10 mile stretch in flagstaff would beg to differ....:biggrin_25525:

I parked at the rest stop W/O Flagstaff...that's where their base of operation took place.....No problems on my end.....

Yeah...Cali's definition of a leak is vastly different..
Don't spill any oil or coolant when you "Top-off".....That's a "leak".....and could be considered a hazardous waste spill as well...:biggrin_2554:
