A friend of mine just received a ticket in a construction zone for doing 20 over. Hes worried that hell loose his license and get a minimum of a $2000 fine. I dont know the whole story yet, but to the best of my knowledge its his first traffic violation in a long time. Im not familiar with GA law or practice in these scenarios. Any thoughts to set a realistic outcome to look forward to.

Nobody knows? huh
-
if it was for 20 over he will not lose his license unless they charge him with reckless another way he iwll lose it is it he gets another major ticket within i believe 2 years might be less but nevertheless he needs to slow down
-
I told him he needed to slow down but wasen't payin attention when he rolled up on the zone by then it was to late, you know how that goes. but thx for the input
-
15 over will be a reckless driving ticket. He'll be lucky if his insurance co or the company he drives for doesn't dump him.
-
was he in a big rig or car? there is a difference on the punishment.
-
Oh my bad a Big rig. company truck, hometown
-
fines will double automatically, and go on his DAC (bad thing) but the biggest thing is if he gets another ticket in the next 3 years he will lose his cdl for a period of time and then has to retest to get it back. Depending on the county in ga. he got busted in and who got him(state, county,DOT, etc) that will say alot of his consequences.
-
Well that kinda what I was thinking but better then his thoughts, I'm not sure but he said he was on his way back to the yard, and thats in gwannett co ( forgot how to spell that)
-
so this happened around the 85/316 construction zone. they sit there very heavily because it's a richer part of town and that means more money. gwinnett county can go either way. it will depend on the judge he gets and what the defendents do before him in court. hopefully the person before him doesn't not rub the judge the wrong way. anyway tell him to bring money and lots of it.
