Get real? If i had to take an educated guess I'd say the majority of texas’s 2 lanes are mostly flat and straight. Thats why their speed limits are higher.

I'm not saying all of the 2 lanes should be raised. I was running US 71 from north of Texarkana to Ft Smith in a tanker on a regular basis and the 55mph was plenty fast. As are many of the roads that are hilly and full of curves. But there is a lot of the state that is not full of hills. Look at US 82, 278, 78 or 63. And I know a lot of you have had to drop down and run US70 to get around a mess on I40 between Little Rock and Memphis. Those and many others could be 65mph safely.

So, no cell use in a construction zone.
Does that mean hands free, too?
The way it was worded was ambiguous.
Kinda typical for lawmakers. -
Come drive down hwy 70 this wk and count the skid marks between little rock and memphis, you would be amazed. 60 mph i could see, but not 65. Most locals here run 60 in the 55 all day and not get messed with. Just obey the signs when u get in town limits, and keep your third eye peeled for all the 25mph farm tractors pulling out of the field. Oh yeah, and the 15 mph bicyclist that think they belong on the left side of the white line, they are on 70 all the time.

None. Period end.
Fines double on Cell or comms use. And double again at construction AND doubles again at accident if you are in it
and they find the call time stamp at that point.
Rural will go to 65, some areas like 64 is already at 65 on the bypass for Vilonia. But when you are on 31 to Heber, that's FAST. -
When is THERE NOT a major truck wreck between Memphis and Little Rock??loltucker Thanks this.

East Texas is similar to western Arkansas. The real difference is how much each state spends on the upkeep of their secondary roads.

The lowest common denominator has grown to be more common than not. You cant fix stupid, but you CAN try to dumb them down to protect others.
