    Hello everybody,
I used to be an Uber driver from the last 3 years but my car broke down 6 months ago and I did not have any job since then, now I want to become a truck driver and work for a company that pays for my cdl.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks!

So it took you 3 years to realize that you weren't making any money. You'll be a prime candidate for a lease purchase.
On a serious note. Most companies that offer training are companies that no experienced driver will work for. All you have to do is stay with them for a year, keep your CDL clean, don't hit anything and move on.
    Here are some:
    Swift, USA Truck, CRST, Prime
@Chinatown should be able to tell you who are the best of the worst.

Is it gonna be a problem that I did not work for the last 6 months?

For those companies, all you need is a pulse. Even that might be optional...

It could be, but don't let that stop you from applying. The worst that can happen is they'll say no.
Just have an answer why you didn't work for 6 months. Make something up and don't feel bad lying to them as their recruiters don't feel bad lying to you.

Post your location for best options.

No matter what company you decide to start with, know that they WILL lie to you to get you in a seat. We see it all the time on here where folks complain "they lied to me". That's what they do. No shocker to the initiated.

You can move on after 6 months of clean driving. But it's better if you stick it out with your first choice for a year. Then you can pretty much choose which company you want to work for.

I got a job after being unemployed for 4 months. And I recommend you go to a private school then get a trucking job at a smaller company that will pay you better. You dont want to be on the hook with a mega anyway, if you decide to quit and owe them money it wont be good. What state are you located in?

Stevens Transport does urine drug test, but sometimes may do a random hair follicle tests on a student or two.

    I am in Indianapolis

I talked to Swift and they said that's fine and they will let me join the school program even with 6 months unemployment.
