Looking for ideas. I have a 05 379 with a c15. Sometimes when I try to start it, it just bumps but won't crank. If I take a small prybar or screwdriver and turn the flywheel maybe one tooth, it will fire right up. I have had the issue for 2 years now. In this time the cable ends have been checked, I put on a new starter, a new set of batteries last week. I checked the flywheel while I had it out putting in new transmission and clutch. Was thinking it might have teeth missing or worn but it was in great shape so I had it resurfaced and I put it back in. If I jump the solenoid on firewall it does the same as using the key.

Mark the balancer. Does it always happen in the same spot?

I was questioning a bent crank but I had a platinum overhaul over a year ago in April. They plasti gauged the crank at that time and found everything was good.

Kinda hard to bend a crank,no.

Have seen them bent and towed a few c15's in with a broken crank as well. It happens unfortunately. As I said the possibility of that being the issue was eliminated over a year ago during the overhaul.

does it blow smoke when it starts?
