I've eaten at the Silver Moon a few times and they have great food. Also if you ever stay at the Love's in Clovis, the little cafe next door has some of the best chicken enchilada's, chips and salsa anywhere.

    Intothesunset Thanks this.

Love Pollard flat, but the food has gone way downhill in quality since the kids took over from the old man who retired a few years ago. The last two times I attempted to eat dinner in there, it wasn't fit for dog food and I had the runs for a few days after.

There isn't much to choose from the entire length of the I-5 on the west coast that I would consider "great" food, but the Rolling Hills Casino in Corning CA has a nightly all you can eat buffet for $18 that's as good as you'll find anywhere including Vegas. Usually it's prime rib as the main entree along with Mexican and Chinese food. All of the sides and desserts are top notch. I haven't tried it, but I think Saturday night is seafood with king crab buffet.

I tried the lobster buffet at Boomtown near Reno a couple months ago and it wasn't good. Lobsters had been steaming for hours and were tough as leather. It didn't seem to bother the 200 Asians that were packed into the place.

  5. well that's a shame I didn't know the old man that stepped away cuz and the kids are assuming control.
I haven't been out up the 5 since about 2013 so it's been a few years...

If you hit the Boomtown again, you're better off with the $7.99 steak and eggs at Mel's or the $14.99 prime rib buffet.

If you find yourself in or near Buttonwillow, you owe it to yourself to stop by the Willow Ranch restaurant (conveniently located next to the TA) and get a Plow Boy sandwich with a side of garlic fries. Holy poot. Roast beef, pastrami, bacon, onion rings, grilled jalapenos, and provolone cheese, all on a sub roll. It is amazing.
