Never seen a Texan date a liberal and not commit suicide.

Not directed towards the OP at all.

Just think there’s more to the story.

Im sure there is. Agreed completely.

Women are more adaptable to their environments than men are, in my own opinion. If she did move to Texas I think she would improve her situation and do better in the future.

I could be wrong completely. I just think that environment has a lot to do with a person's well being.

Also I am completely ignoring the fact that a lot of people in California do well and prosper even with all the taxes and other things that we frown upon here in Texas. Those were just some general comments and my first was just boasting some Texas pride... Texan men are bigger and better. LoL.

A lot of it is on her. I would not recommend Utah though as a place to start over. Skip over Utah and go to Wyoming, if not Nevada or Texas.

Well if the #### truck CAN'T be started.... that's a bit excessive?

Unless I'm missing something here, and you're not describing a situation of 2 people stranded in a broken down vehicle in the ### end of nowhere waiting for a tow and just keeping warm?

I was born and raised in Texas, we always had our share of loonies too, even before the furenurs from up north and cali started flooding it.lol That would be both men and women.
people don't change their situation much till something happens that either demands it or makes them wan to change,
Now, this is the internet, and none of us really has a clue what happened, sure not enough for me to say whose fault her situation is and blame an X.
Just from the fact that she has been living in the car for several months, I am having a hard time thinking this is all the X's fault. period.
I would hate to have known at any point in my life, that I didn't have good enough family or friends, that one of them would not have helped me get back on my feet.
Even without them, single women have way too many options to be living in a car, unless that is what they want. There is help from them in several forms, just about anywhere in the country.

    I understand about adaptability.

I can say a lot about that but I’m going to refrain.

California has so many social programs for the homeless, both private and governmental, that there's no need for anyone to live in their car.
I live in a small town and just off the top of my head there are four private agencies...Salvation Army, St. Vincent dePaul, and two faith based homeless shelters that will feed, clothe, councel, and find lodging for the homeless.
The county, the city, and the state all have programs on several different levels designed exclusively for the homeless. They all have outreach programs which consist of volunteers going to the homeless on the streets or wherever they congregate and recruiting them to sign up for programs.

In California,if a person is living in their car it's because they've chosen to live in their car, not becaue they have to.

One caveat...if the homeless person is obviously drunk or under the influence of drugs they're usually not admitted or assisted by any agency or program. There are places available for detox if a person really wants to clean up.

Yep shelters do not allow drinking, and that is why a lot of homeless will not use one.
I take that back, MOST shelters, our powers to be decided a few years ago to build apartments to give to the ones that drank too much here, genuises I tell you.

We know she had enough money to get drunk (else it would be an open container charge, not a dui charge) but not enough to be living anywhere.
We know her poor choices are what left her here.
We know that for the most part every city in America has homeless shelters.

So we know she had options, she just chose not to better herself and instead keep blaming other people (her ex in this case) for the situation she put herself in.
If she ever did get a CDL, who would she be blaming when she runs over the school bus?
