Probably so. Charbroiler and Ford built their old 6's straight up and down. Some of those designs were originally from the 20's and 30's with occasional updates. Charbroiler famous Stovebolt Six was built for a long time.Feedman, Crusader66, 1951 ford and 13 others Thank this.

All Mopar 6's from that era were variations of the Slant 6. Mainly just in displacement. Very dependable engines. Built Ford Tough. Hi Grimey !

Actually Moose,
Mercedes Benz did that trick in 1952 with the M-186/198 engine to keep the hood low on the 300SL, maybe you have heard of them called gullwings.

Didn't Mercy Bends Alive ! build the engines for the infamous ME 109 ( also known as the Bf 109 because the company that first built them was BFW, which Willy Messerschmitt subsequently bought. ) ?
Those were fuel injection engines and had an advantage over the carb engines in the Allied fighters at the beginning of a dive because of the negative G force would throw the gas out of the float bowls and the engine would cut out for a second.Last edited: Jul 29, 2019
