Early war airplane had this problem. Bendix pressure carburetors solved this issue in 1941/2 All the US built Merlin's, R2800's Allison's had them, the post 1940 RR Merlin's did as well.

Yes that Focke Wulf was tough. Saw a really corroded one in San Antonio. Hard to believe how few of them are left. Single digits IIRC. Fantastic plane. The later version with the long nose had more power but the emphasis had shifted to the jet ME 262 I think ?Feedman, Crusader66, 1951 ford and 12 others Thank this.
