I was wrong about the number left. About 28 have survived. Reproduction has been going on since 97 with around 20 built by 2012.

So yesterday afternoon I popped the taillight open on the hardtail wishing for a bad bulb causing an inop brake light an no dice. So now get to reverse engineer the harness, which is run about 70% inside the frame and built by someone else. That'll be made less miserable since I have a lift table. Except said table is covered with the guts of 2 early ford 3 speeds, some hydraulic scraps from my son's low rider projects, and other miscellaneous crap. So maybe I finally have the incentive to assemble one good transmission for the 50 ford and get the flywheel turned and a clutch kit and make that a runner again. Then sweep off the table so I can fix the bike right side up. Bold ambitions.

It wasn't all bad news. I decided to go with one of those LED replacement 1157 lamps, so that was my excuse to haul out the Z-1 and clear the carburetors for a 10 mile run to the auto parts store 1/2 mile away. I bought a 2-pack of bulbs thinking I'd use one in the Kawasaki to brighten it up too. Except it tuned on the brake light fault lamp so I swapped the old bulb back in. I think the original lamp is a 1038 or something, probably more or less wattage than the 1157 so triggered the fault lamp.

@Tall Mike A pre-bluetooth tuner story. The beauty of these early Jap big blocks is they were originally tuned for the ugly stock 4 into 4 exhaust. So any change tends to make them run a little rich. However, Dad caught a wild hair and had a set of Hooker 4 into 1's put on it maybe 35 yrs ago and had the carbs re-jetted. Then some time later he got tired of the noise and had these cheap 2 into 1's put on, but did not re-jet again. So it's running just a touch lean. Enough to make it crackle on decel, but not enough to make me want to search down a set of mainjets and turn the fuel up a little. Pretty quiet, but still have a nice bark over 4,000 rpm.

I didn't crank it too hard because it was still cold. I saved that for the road. And something our resident service manual librarian @OLDSKOOLERnWV will appreciate. I got factory manual for it too LOL

None have stepped forward as of yet. Besides he's got way better hair. Probably takes after his mom LOL.

That thought crossed my mind seeing the news this morning. Gilroy authorities are not sharing anything besides the body count half a day later, so the "reporters" are already making stuff up by interviewing anyone that might have heard gunshots.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Probably not being reported outside the local news in Atlanta. Georgia DPS got hit by a ransomware attack over the weekend. Mobile computers used by the State Patrol, Capital Police, and our favorites MC Enforcement, are affected.

Probably be business as usual at the coops, but if you got an expired medical, absconded on your child support or outstanding warrants, c'mon in!

Me too. Anything over 4 people is a crowd to me. I don't care for small talk especially if I don't know the person. Because of my wife's work, I'm around people that I share zero in mutual interests. WTF am I going to talk about? How to grow roses? And it never stops amazing me at the people (particularly white men) who have this massive ego because of a job title. Like the title defines them as a person. Oh well.
