I wonder when we will have to take out our oil furnaces from our homes? Is that not the same as running a truck to keep warm?
Baack Thanks this. -
They're working on that with their cap and trade bs. Only to regulate us though, their homes will be fully powered.

Depends on the engine. To give you an idea a APU on a Blackhawk helicopter uses 100 lbs of fuel an hr. Figure 6.84 lbs per/gal of JET-A, at 100lbs an/hr comes out to around 14.75 gal an hr. The APU is a small engine. The larger the engine the more pounds per hr it will use then x that by how many engines on the aircraft. Just to give you a idea on what they burn. Your truck at idle may use around 1 gal an hr. I know CARB makes a big deal on your truck, never mind all the jets at LAX that have their APU's on for maint, cargo loading/unloading etc.... But its the way it is. CA thinks the truck is the root of all evil.

Thx for the info. I figured jets burned more fuel than trucks do but had no idea it was that much more! I wonder when the goobermint will attack the airline industry. I would pay good $ to see a CARB officer write a ticket to the pilot of a 747! I probably shouldnt give them any ideas.
-
CARB wont do that. They will look at a pilot as a human. Remember you a truck driver CARB and the rest of the CA gooberment looks at you like your a POS...... Welcome to CA, How may we bend you over today ? Oh yea...how much cash is in your wallet.

To get around all that anti-idling crap....stay out of the service areas...and keep ypur lights off at night. that may keep them from banging on your door. If it was me, I would idle to stay warm/cool...to hell with the anti idle laws.
