Slow day. Clocked out a few hours early. Was hoping the parts I ordered for my mountain bike would be in so I could drop it off and have it upgraded and ready to go for my days off. Haven't heard anything yet.

I spent 3 years delivering road salt to many of the highways yards around the lake and through to Greenwood as well as down to Trail from mid October to mid March with a set of super-b convertibles and lumber or Diatomaceous earth back to the prairies. Spent many nights in the tavern on the west side ferry dock while waiting for the right ferry to get breakfast when eastbound. I should know that little dock if you can get there with a truck but I can't place it.Tug Toy, Crusader66, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 15 others Thank this. -
I hardly ever get much further south of Kamloops anymore in BC. Majority of my family and friends have moved out of BC.

Hint it isn't far from a ferry and restaurant.
I walked to the restaurant and got two burgers and milkshakes to go, sat on the trailer and ate them, because the lake is a lot nicer view than the inside of a restaurant. I love being outside.
Drive south of there you are in Nelson, head north you go to Ainsworth hot springs. About 2 months ago a trainee and I stayed at the Ainsworth hotel and soaked in the attached hot springs for about 3 hours. She had never stopped to be in the hot springs before. I actually used to live 10 minutes north of the hot springs when I was a youngster. I rented a tiny house beside the lake, 720 square feet, man it was small, and I loved it there. I was 21 years old, single, just bought my first truck, was a crazy man, rented it because the driveway was big enough to park the logging truck in. All the tourists would come to the area, so many 1 day to 1 week flings with the tourists away from home and gone wild. Met this one gal who was up for a little R&R, told myself to not ever let it happen to me...don't get serious about any of them. Took all of 5 days and I fell in love with her. When she went home I was a mess, actually asked her number, so I called her and we talked daily for a month. She quit her job and moved, lived together for a few months and got married. We were so in love, had two amazing daughters together, moved to Revelstoke and bought a house. Life was amazing until a drunk driver hit her car one afternoon, our older daughter was with her, they both died, and I was suddenly a single dad with a 3 year old, that was 21 years ago. My little girl turned 24 in May. I still very frequently drive through the kootenays, and right past the little rental house that still stands today....drove past it twice today, on the way down to Castlegar, and again heading home now. What sucks about this time of year is the roads are so busy with tourists, and the line up for the ferry is crazy. I hope we don't have to wait too long to get on the ferry when we get there. At least our load is small and light, only a 72,400 lb grapple loader going to the cedar mill.
