I went to a trucker garage sale yesterday. It was a smallish trucking company going out of business, so all shop equipment, tools, parts, trucks and trailers were for sale.
All different breeds of trucks, but they had a 99 pete CO, that he claimed was still basically new, with hardly any miles on it. It was shiny red on the outside, didn't actually go up close and look, but it had an E model 550 and 18 spd, for a mear 100 grand. lol
prices on shop related stuff was good.
Lots of straps and chains. -

I have heard that paccar has quit building kits, but it has not been very many years ago that they told a friend of mine that they would build him a KW cabover kit, but they required a big part of the money up front. -

I'm slowly refurbishing my avatar. I went from conventional to cabover. Driving it for the first time was as fun as riding a motorcycle , if you could ride a motorcycle down a rough highway standing on top of a 6 foot ladder. The gearing was perfect for the new old speed limit of 60 mph...
Rideandrepair, kemosabi49 and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
If you want a good economical truck. Find you a nice, well maintained Freightliner FLD120 with a 12.7 Detroit. They're comfortable trucks, you can maneuver them easily in the city, and they're cheaper to maintain than most trucks. You can tune a 12.7 and get great performance and even better fuel mileage. Plus the 12.7 will outlast a lot of engines out there. Lastly, you can fix the FLD120 up and make a very sharp ride out of it.
Rideandrepair Thanks this.
