I have not heard any drivers speak bad of them. from what I have heard they treat drivers good so it is worth a shot

Timbuktu- the one driver of theirs that I have talked to seemed happy (He pulled for their boat division) If I remember correctly, he said he was out something like 3 weeks and then got a week at home. They paid a good amount per mile too, and extra pay to cross the GW or go to Long Island.

I worked for SMX out of fort doge, IA for 2 years. I will be totally honest with anyone looking to drive for them. On a scale of 1-10 "I give them a 4".

If you have talked with other SMX drivers and they say it's a decent place to work for It's probably because they live in Iowa, And they are owner-op's or they are stuck in a lease program.
Only drivers that live in Iowa will get home on a every/every other weekend schedule. If you live out of Iowa? Your looking at being home in about 2 1/2-to-3weeks and on a friday afternoon and leaving sunday night.

SMX is a complicated, political company to work for. Drivers who are O/Op's or on a lease program will get loads of substantial miles "WAY!" more than a company driver a co. driver will get a average of 1500miles a week.

of course like any other company you do not get paid what you actually drive...
    thier is no detention/layover pay...
you pay for all of your tolls up front, But you get riembursed for them "And you run a lot of toll roads-so get that trippak in asap"...
the equipment is nice and thier maintenance staff will do whatever needs fixing BUT! you better let them know or it will not get fixed and they are a moody bunch...

you will drive 6hrs to the shipper, be at the shipper 6hrs (Awake! no sleepig aloud or you will miss you call by the gaurd/shipping office and miss your CB call!!!)then you WILL drive 11hrs straight to make the delivery appointment...

Forced dispatch??? lets just say EXTREMLY! conviencing...

I hope you like delivering to a dump/landfill and backing up to a tipper "Get those tow hooks out"-LOL!...
30% of your loads are drop-n-hook...
40% of your loads are driver assists...
20% of your loads are lumper fees "you get riembursed"...
10% of you time is sitting on your ### for 5-6hrs waitng for a load...
You better be very good at backing into tight spots, you'll need it for when your looking for a place to sleep at the truckstop when you get thier a 2am-lol!...
One week you will bring home after taxes about $875.00 the next $300.00...
    NO!! extra pay for NY...

I can go on and on about SMX. you do a lot of sitting/parked and the bus ride thier from cleveland, Ohio to Fort dodge,IA SUCK'D

    allnite Thanks this.
