Atlanta suffers these things too; mine cost me $80.00. What sux is that if it were a cop, he'd have let me go. It was 11:30 on a Sunday night on deserted streets that were wet...and I just barely got clipped by the red.
    Cameras don't give warning tickets.

I hate the red light cameras for a number of reasons. First, it takes any discretion out that an officer would have on any stop. There's no chance for a warning just a ticket. When I stop someone I have the discretion to write a warning or a ticket. Secondly, I have seen a few over the years where it will cause an accident. Someone, who's is afraid the light will snip them, slams the brakes on just as the yellow light changes and the car behind them can't get stopped in time, have seen a tractor trailer that fell victim to this as well. Truck just couldn't lock em down anymore and drove up on the rear deck of a car. Why, because the car driver didn't want to get the ticket. I know when I am approaching them, I always look in the rear view to see what's on my 6, and start slowing down before I get to it so I can get stop as soon as the yellow activates. I don't know what your experinces are but the yellow seems awfully quick to me on the red light camera lights compared to the other lights. Just my $ .02.

Here in North Carolina we had them in the cities of Greensboro & High Point for a little over 2 years. Both cities ordered them removed because of the accidents they were causing and it was costing the city more to maintain them than they were getting off the tickets.

If you ever have the chance, watch the British TV mini-series called "The Last Enemy". These cameras really are just the tip of the iceberg! There is no longer any such thing as "privacy". :biggrin_25516:

My wife got nabbed almost the exact same way, except it was late morning and traffic. Had she slammed on the brakes on the wet road, she would had been involved in an accident for sure. The kicker is that this happened in PA but she had to send the $80 fine to VA!
