I've called eclipse too. Pharm is right, they don't care about experience. You have to have your own authority to pull for them. I think they figure if you've gone to the trouble of getting that, a truck, insurance, etc. you must be pretty serious about driving. Getting your own authority and establishing your own operation like Pharm has done kind of speaks for itself. When I called, I told them I had been driving for a year and was going to be buying my own truck, getting my authority, etc. and he told me to give him a few weeks notice so that he could have a trailer in the yard waiting on me.

    that's frustrating.

I'm still trying to figure out why the rate on the same load seems to be a tad higher when I'm further away then when I'm up the street. I highly doubt all these shippers are following my movement with a tac in a map.

I'm about to give up on how these shippers figure rates. Put really low rates on dart board throw a dart and that's the rate for today.

    PharmPhail Thanks this.

Well, They're saying harvest will be around June 20 depending on weather. Time will tell whether they're right. Custom cutters have been heading south.

Are rates about to go up?

..or, is it just a prime time for companies to bid insanely low in the hopes of retaining year-round business afterwards?

Boy that's a good question. Usually our rates usually go up at harvest because they need the trucks. It depends on how big the crop is and how many out of state trucks come here.

I suppose it could help you Pharm in that some of your competiton might come here. I'm not sure our harvest would help you much back east.

Hubby did Kansas harvest last year for one week. Made about the same as hauling cattle that week. Met some super nice people too. :biggrin_25525:
