Nah man. The road test is simple. Regular driving and backing. Make sure to come to a complete stop at stop signs. None of that rolling stop stuff. They are real strict on that. Also watch out for those stale green lights and one more thing rail road crossings. I just found this out but for some odd reason they want us to go no faster than 20 mph over rail road tracks. Of course if it’s hazmat complete stop before you get to it and hazard lights but even if it’s no hazmat 20mph or below when crossing railroad tracks. I did that during my road test and they were impressed and actually was glad that I did that because they want us to use caution when going over them but I didn’t know it was a rule for them. But now I know and I’m passing along the knowledge.

Those vintage videos put me to sleep lol. Be prepared for that most definitely lol. My road test was in a manual. Truck had like 2 million miles on it or something like that. But other than that I haven’t driven anything other than an automatic.

Hey that's cool. I'll keep that in mind tomorrow then about the speed over tracks. Manual tranny is what I prefer truthfully. Its one of the few particulars that actually keep me feeling like a truck driver anymore. But hey, when they're paying as well as some of these companies are, I just take what I can get. Thanks for the replies fellas and I'll post an update afterwards tomorrow.

Well. I’m in! Had a pre trip then driving an old Volvo with a meritor 10spd to the shop to pick up a trailer then around town for a bit. Really laid back and just focused on safety. TM had to get final approval through higher up, which he just got so now I’ve got to fork up a couple pennies for a DOT physical then go in and get all set up. Hopefully be starting the week after next. My current boss has been really supportive and understanding about me leaving so I’m working a decent notice out with him. Met some of the guys around the terminal and they seemed like a nice crew to work around.

Congrats and welcome to the Cooper team. One question why are you paying for a physical. That should be paid by the company or if your current med card is at least 6 months or more they will be able to accept that but hey no biggie you are in. It doesn’t cost that much. Concentra is horrible don’t go to them. If you have a carespot in your area go there. I love their service and they are very professional and make sure all your documents are squared away. Are you going to be P&D or LineHaul or Team and what Terminal are you out of again? I think you said Atlanta. Not sure. But hey man congrats and come get some of this Cooper money. People down play us sometime but we are like a hidden jewel man. You can make 6 figures here easy once you learn the system.

I’ve got about a year left on my med card but he told me I’d need a new one and the first one was on my dime. I’m actually out of Augusta, don’t do Atlanta, driving through and not stopping is the best part of that town for me.

City P&D where you put more miles backing up :D. It will definitely boost up your backing skills.
