There are a whole series of issues about having sleep apnea and being a CMV operators with a medical card.

If you have specific questions PM me....

Sleep apne is a disqusalifying condition for a DOT medical card unless you are under current and effective treatment... the newest guidlines are that the sleep doctor has to have compliance CPAP use data. So if you have an older CPAP you might not get you medical card renewed until you get a newer CPAP with the fancy electronics.

There are also issues as sleep apnea is a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Getting fired just for having sleep apnea is not allowed. But getting fired for not using your CPAP.. or not telling your carrier right away that you have been diagnosed and have begun treatment... can get you fired.

Say a person was diagnosed with sleep apnea over 5 years ago and been using a CPAP machine faithfully since that time. If that person was applying for a job with a trucking company, should he or she volunteered that information or just mention it if they asked?
