1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Got my TWIC card in Jolliet, Il for several reasons

-almost always in that area once a week
-ease of access. Right off the interstate 80, a couple miles to the east of the 55 junction AND they have enough parking to bring your trailer in too

ok lets start at the first of it. i got a job with usx about 3 years ago. first off since i owned my own company for 8 years.. i couldnt use myself as a refrance. so after 8 years of driveing that i couldnt use. i had to start with NOOBIE PAY! .31 a mile.then i got a truck. then i sat for 9 days screaming and yelling for a load. (note)PTA WAS SET!..anyways they didnt put me in the computer that i had that truck so as far as they knew it was empty on the back lot..well i got over that spill. and started driveing..well after a few months. my miles dropped so hard i couldnt afford to eat..so i transfered to a dept. that drove reginal.and i was home very weekend then after 7 month they went bankrupt. leaveing me truckless..well i returned to tunnel hill and got transfered back to the main branch.. after child support and taxes i brought home around $53.00 a week. things needed to pick up. then after they didnt i became a lease operator. things really got bad then. i got a lemon of a truck it had wireing problems.. the truck would just shut down like you turned off the switch while going down the road.. i put it in the shop many times trying to fix it but no luck. so i turned to usx to help with the issue.. maybe place me in a truck that works? NO! was the answer i got. well after months and months of breaking down . i talked them into giveing me another truck. so i went in to trade trucks and GOT THE BOOT! thats right i was let go. then they screwed up my dac so bad i cant seem to get a job anywhere. my gross income from jan1 09 to june 4 09 was 47k i brought home less than $1,300 bucks in 6 months. the truck just would not run. now im jobless. and for the first time since i was 14 years old im back liveing with MOM! my child support is starting to fall behind and if i dont get a job soon i will be in jail im guessing. 11 years and the worse i ever had was with usx. thanks for letting me vent!:biggrin_25516:

We paid for a driver's physical and he quit 2 days later. Thank God we still owed him for the prior week's services so we could get our money back. I think he thought he was getting away with a two year physical for free.

Companies have to protect themselves too... a lot of guys think just because there's several trucks that the owners are making killings. They tend to forget there are truck payments, insurance payments, repairs and services, and several departments of overhead. Companies are frugal with their money for a reason.

Fair or not for the driver to pay for the TWIC? I'm not sure... since it stays with the driver, I think they should have to pay for it... or at least have the option of getting one or not. I do not think a company should ever tell an already existing driver that he HAS to purchase a TWIC in order to stay running. That would be a company responsiblity.
