At least the tractor was laid over on the bridge, could you imagine if the tractor was hanging over the side of the bridge looking down at all that water?

Been there done that. Have the stained shirt to prove it.

I was empty, storm squall winds came up crossed to where i was halfway westbound at the high point on steel grate. The second gust slammed my right side against the railing which isnt that high. The next gust would not quit and she leaned over the railing with me on the fuel tank eyeing a 10 foot drop onto steel grate. How do you want your driver? Chopped up? Or a smear in the water below.

That mack and container slammed back onto the pavement and I waited a few minutes until the storm passed.

    Drove off.

But to go lay one down on the bridge? That's not too bad. You are going to get hurt probably.

But to go over and fall? Thats 232 feet. It will take around 24 seconds and you will be around 110 when you hit the water. You will not survive it. Dead on impact.

I think the winds caught his trailer and there isnt any room to make accommodation to it.

Those prestressed jersey barriers on eastbound did a good job. Although I can do without the westbound span shot. That was where i had mine. It's only about waist high small welded railings.

"The incident is still under investigation."

Hmmmm. The wind blew. The authorities need more than one line on one page to work this out?

  8. that's the problem out there though on that bad boy the wind could blow it anytime just like Wyoming.. when it is really bad they do put a trailer ban in effect no trucks allowed I've had to stay back there at outside of Salisbury before and they used to be on 13 still on the north side of Burger King that had truck parking..
that's why before Crossing CBBT running empty and I had to go down towards Virginia Beach area Chesapeake I always made sure I watched the weather if it was call for some heavy winds sometimes I thought twice before I cross that bridge

There are sections of that bridge that don't have that Jersey barrier. If you zoom in on the truck on the other side you'll see that there is nothing more than a gard rail.

More than likely the tractor will be a write off-not because of the damage when it flipped but because of the **** stains the driver left in the seat when he flipped!
