Looking for people's experience during training ?
What was it like for you during the first few days of training ?
I am sure it is so big driving that truck around , is it really as hard as everyone says ?
I have heard some say easy and some say hard. I have driven a big flat bed straight truck and it seemed real easy to get used to it. But I am sure an 18 wheeler is different .
Is there anything that stood out that you care to share that surprised you or were just a little different ?
Thanks
Things you noticed during training ?

I mostly learned in my uncles kenworth w900 and was about 14 years old, no license, and 90% of the time on logging roads. All i remember was that he said no matter what you do listen to the radio, call your kms, and clear the loaded trucks coming down or we die. Really that is about all I remember all these years later. I was too young and stupid thank God, to really understand what the hell I was doing, and how close I came to death every day.

My best recommendation for all trainees is to eat two cans of Stagg Dynamite Hot chili everyday of your training and while you're with your trainer.

Noticed how bad my trainer smelled after a day not showered. A French bar maid has nothing on several people in a truck. You can never have too much body spray, or Old Spice.
Also stupid trainer always had a tin of white pills he ate all day. And made me drive over my 14 hour rule, until my eyes watered, also made me use his log book while driving over my 14. What a nice guy. All this for $250 a week, and then 25 cpm after I went solo.
I love that song ever since I was young. "Just like a cherry cola." I think @Chinatown wrote that song??D.Tibbitt, tommymonza, dennisroc and 1 other person Thank this. -
The hardest part was developing proper habits. Driving is easy imo. Driving properly requires patience.
