the bigger ones do but you really just want a small one and then you can use a small ceramic space heater for heat. the bigger problem is engine block heaters. they are a HUGE power draw and could never work on an invertor and would be a fire hazard I would think if you did try. this is one of the points sending me back to a generator system. You could use a generator with a voltage switch to start it only when the battery voltage gets low but those switches are cost prohibitive
I'm sure you did but you overpaid. Google Optima yellow top prices $150 is about the average. of course then you have shipping. so it's a wash

I think they are like $100 or $150
I know one persone running each of them systems too. now that I think about it the guy with the big batteries I think is running the factory made isolator.
I'm just thinking the less extra wiring in a truck the better. too many chances of a fireThe Challenger Thanks this. -
Pharm, if you have a local parts/appliance store in your area that does residential A/C and refrigerator work, they can diagnose your truck too.
My best friend does exactly that. I was leaking gas and he went through the whole system and also injected dye into the system that showed the leak under black light. Got his torch and welded a crack in a brass line.
My friend was not guessing. These people do this non stop for residential and businesses. They are very methodical and it's not rocket science. A truck shop maybe have someone who does this once in a while. Your local shop will probably get a huge kick out of checking a big truck out.
Also check out Ebay for brand new compressors and other items. Brand new A/C compressors are going for about $280. I just bought a new Davco fuel filter with heater for $189 which normally costs over $350.
On a side note. I have a Western Star with 80" sleeper. I have a Rigmaster with A/C, a rooftop Carrier A/C and an Espar D2. Gives me lots of options. I've been in Texas when it was so hot I have the Rigmaster A/C running, the Carrier roof top unit running and the truck also!!! I wasn't the only one. lol
Take a few Adderall and some Dexedrine and you'll be fine in the morning.PharmPhail Thanks this. -

I found a couple of places for isolators
powerstream
hellroaring
also an electric driven ac compressor ( b2bmotor-manufacturer) that could be used full time for driving and rest eliminating the draw from the belt driven compressor and reducing the cycling of the fan if you tie it into the existing truck AC system. Along with a set of set of 4 d34 blue top optima's for power, this would save fuel, minimize additional parts and a heck of a lot less $$$ than any APU on the market. The compressor and blower could be cycled like a home unit using a digital thermostat like that used in the home since they are 12v activated.Attached Files:

I have a RigMaster on my truck, but I'm not sure it's worth it. For version 2.0, I'm leaning towards a high output alternator, second bank of batteries, Espar/Webasto heat for both bunk and engine ... and I'm still trying to sort out the A/C.
