Ok.....you use the example of a smart phone. You can get smart phones for very cheap. You think it's just that easy for everybody to get a better paying job? Everybody has a different situation. What works for you(and I commend your success) doesnt necessarily work for others. Even if they go from 10 to 12 dollars an hour, you go on like it vaults them into a higher tax bracket. Many people do shared housing alread. You're not exactly putting out new revolutionary solutions here lol. You can say what you want, but the fact is, your average American cannot support a family based on what your average job pays and still be able to meet all home duties. Just because you've been fortunate enough, doesnt mean everyone else's life will mirror yours. As for your last statement,
"Stop giving people money, and worry about your financial life first! No wonder you’re apparently struggling,"
Well, apparently you're the one who is struggling if giving a beggar 1 dollar will cause this much strife. In all seriousness, you ought to get to know me before passing that judgment on me. If I got it to give, what will it hurt? It isnt like they are saying, "Buy me a Maserati." Just food or a beer lolstillwurkin Thanks this. -

As I mentioned on my first comment in this thread, you are not exactly helping them by giving them money. I would add that if you really cared about them, you would speak to them, know their situation, and give them some pointers. I suspect what many of them need is a basic understanding of money management to prevent homelessness. If you have 3 months of savings that cover all of your expenses, this will help prevent these situations.

Some of them do, some them don't. Regardless of, its on them what they do if I decide to give. In my soul, there are good intentions.

You know, sometimes I wonder if truckers think that the normal world operates like our world. Its easy to switch companies, give pointers, save 3 months of income. In the normal world, it takes time to switch jobs, even longer to find the job that can actually create a comfortable living. Majority of people dont make enough, nor will they ever to even save, and many have dependents. Not everyone is going to be able to have it like you bro.

Nice people don’t go too far in life, and the trickery I see homeless people engaging in is shameful. They’ve managed to convince a good portion of our population to give them money. I can list here all of their tricks, but what good would that do.FlaSwampRat and Linte_Loco Thank this.

People have the power to change to better paying jobs. If they’ve been flipping burgers for many years, whose fault is that? That’s the decision they’ve taken, and we all pay for our actions or inactions.
Just so you know, those who earn minimum wage here in the US are still better off than those living in third-world countries who barely make enough to feed themselves. Don’t feel sorry for them.FlaSwampRat and TokyoJoe Thank this. -
We all make choices.
Even my own siblings each made their own choices. One made great choices, one mediocre choices, and one terrible choices.
If someone chooses to do drugs or become an alcoholic, so they cannot get a good job, that is their choice , not mine, and so why would I give them money because I made better choices, but also work my ### off while they freeload off society.Last edited: Aug 4, 2019
